October is the best time to embrace the fall spirit. Downtown State College has plenty of fall-themed events, places and food to enjoy this season.

The State Theatre

This old-school downtown movie theatre offers everything from classic films to live performances, music and more. This season, it is showing fall and Halloween favorites throughout October. Whether you want to watch a spooky late-night Halloween movie or a fall classic, the State Theatre has you covered.

Webster’s Bookstore Cafe

Webster’s Bookstore Cafe is an adorable and authentic bookstore downtown that offers many fall treats and is a great spot to enjoy them. It has tens of thousands of used books, vintage records and niche clothing to browse through.

Webster’s is known for its fall treats as well. Grab a chai latte or a fall spiced drink and a pastry, and settle down with a book to enjoy. They also feature a brunch on Sundays with live music for the community to come together and enjoy.

The Arboretum

The Arboretum is a botanical garden located at the corner of East Ave and Bigler Road. On Oct. 16 and 17, the Arboretum hosts a Pumpkin Fest, which features hundreds of lit-up jack-o’-lanterns carved by locals from the community for a competition. Additionally, there will be live music, a pumpkin patch and local food trucks to really enjoy the traditional autumn experience.

Wasson Farm Market

Although it is a quick drive from downtown State College, the Wasson Farm Market is a great location to enjoy a fall day. It has a farmers’ market with produce, fall baked goods and even fall-themed decorations.

On the weekends, the Wasson Farm Market offers many fun and engaging fall activities such as hayrides, corn mazes and pumpkin picking. Bring friends, because there is something to please everyone there!

Some of the products include fresh flowers and bouquets, baked goods, maple syrup, jellies, pastries, and beverages such as coffee, tea and kombucha. They also sell other handmade goods like soaps, candles and skincare products.

Penn State Creamery

Some unique fall flavors you can find there include butter pecan, pumpkin pie, golden pecan chocolate and apple cobbler crunch. They also have other goodies such as cream cheese, bagels, spreads, cheese, honey and their famous grilled stickies.

The Corner Room

The Corner Room is a popular landmark and restaurant in downtown State College. It is right in the heart of downtown, the perfect location for a weekend meal with friends or family.

It is historic, old-fashioned and charming, creating the perfect autumn vibe. There is a perfect view of the color-changing leaves that can be enjoyed while eating a warm, cozy meal inside.
