If anyone is going to use their platform for the greater good, it’s going to be Ms. Olivia Rodrigo! Olivia has had a great year with the release of her brand-new album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, and the start of her third tour, The Unraveled Tour. With the help of these new releases, she has pushed a different agenda, one of hope and resilience for women. Women have fought for decades for equality and rights, and Olivia Rodrigo has decided to start a movement that brings women together for a common cause.

Along with her album release, she also announced a festival called the Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival, featuring an all-women lineup with amazing performances from Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Stevie Nicks, and many more. With an attendance of about 45,000 fans, Olivia was to raise $10 million for 10 women-focused non-profit organizations. By the end of the night, it was announced that philanthropist Melinda French Gates had matched the earnings, bringing it to $20 million in donations. Olivia’s mission for this festival was to uplift women while also spreading awareness of women’s healthcare and reproductive rights by supporting The Center for Reproductive Rights, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Baby2Baby, Freeform, and Planned Parenthood, among others that you can also donate to.

Along with her all-women lineup, Olivia made sure the festival was catered to women in other ways, too. For example, the event was photographed by an all-women crew that covered it from start to finish. Vendors for the event were either women-owned or immigrant-owned businesses, such as “Vchos Pupuseria Moderna,” which serves Salvadoran cuisine and is one of the food trucks that arrives at UCLA every week. Be sure to support them — their food is amazing!

Additionally, Olivia released a single not so long ago titled “serena joy,” which references The Handmaid’s Tale character who regrets her participation in a patriarchal society. The song is the definition of “art is political,” as Olivia urges women to stand up for themselves. A portion of proceeds from this release were donated to the Daisy Chain fund. Plus, 500 CDs were sold at a small record store in California three days before the song was released on digital platforms. Support your local record stores — Olivia Rodrigo approved!

Furthermore, Olivia does not shy away from using her voice on any platform. She recently took to Instagram to share a statement regarding the recent Cornell case, in which she said, “I stand with Jane Doe,” followed by, “Her bravery reverberates across the country.”  It’s clear that she practices being an advocate for women on and off the stage, and, of course, we love to see it! You, too, can spread awareness by sharing the RAINN hotline for free, confidential support for victims, or by donating.

Regarding her tour, Olivia has urged her fans to register to vote for the upcoming general election on November 3. Olivia has partnered with HeadCount to give away 2 VIP tickets to see her on tour in NYC with all expenses paid. You can enter on their Instagram page or click the post below. Before you do that, register to vote here. There is also an opportunity to volunteer with HeadCount for The Unraveled Tour here if you weren’t able to get tickets.
