Spooky season is ahead of us and I am all for it! As September finishes up, I’m waiting for that exciting Oct. 31 to hit. Due to the chilly weather of New York City, we must be cautious about what we wear to avoid catching a cold. Here are 10 trendy costumes you can wear this Halloween.
- Nikki from Obsession
Obsession had me on the edge of my seat when it first came out. When Freaky Nikki came out with that iconic red top and black shorts, I automatically knew that everyone would be hooked. And I was right! It’s one of the most sought-after costumes of 2026. The best part? The costume is probably one of the easiest to recreate from your closet on this list. You can easily use it as a normal everyday outfit.
- Allie Hayes’ JLo from Off-Campus
Another iconic girl from the media dominating the field? Count me in! Off-Campus has been on my mind since the show was released. That scene of Allie dancing with the teal dress that Jennifer Lopez once wore at an award show had me gagged. This is a costume that will for sure have heads turning.
- A Showgirl
Looking for all the attention to be on you? Worry not, showgirls are known to be in the center of the spotlight. Though it is not suitable for outside weather, this costume would go over amazing in the social media books. This look has been more popularized due to Taylor Swift’s most recent album, so we can all applaud Swift for reigniting the showgirl flame.
- Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson has been, and will forever be, the King of Pop. Michael has only elevated his popularity more. Halloween is the one day you can dress up as anything or anyone and not be judged. So, why not be the very famous Michael Jackson?
- Catwoman
Almost every year, Catwoman is at the top of the list when it comes to heroes and villains for Halloween. Whether you want to go in the direction of the comics, or the direction of any movie that features the bandit, either is incredibly trendy and breathtaking.
- A Pirate
Whether you want to be Jack Sparrow or Zarina from Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy, both options are definitely going to look gorgeous. Pirates have always been a trendy costume for a reason. Drag in some of your friends, make a pirate ship crew, go out, and make some memories that are worth it.
- A Ladybug
Cute insects? Cute costume. Being a ladybug on that special awaited day will never be out of style. If you want to go for a cute style over anything, then being a ladybug should be No. 1 on your list.
- Ghostface
Want to go for horror this Halloween? Well then, being Ghostface will most definitely scare people. If you’re uncertain about being the infamous killer of Woodsboro, then buy the mask, get some rhinestones, and get the glue gun. Bedazzling the mask will make you stand out. Just make sure you do the very well-known knife swipe.
- Flora from Winx Club
Winx Club is an Italian cartoon famous for the outfits they drew for their fairies. Flora, fairy of nature, is one of the most recognized fairies of the cartoon. If you are to dress up as her, for comfortability, I would recommend the Magix version or the Believix version. If you want to do it for the glam, then Enchantix all the way.
- Daphne from Scooby-Doo
Last but not least in our list of trendy costumes for the year, Daphne finishes it off. It’s up to you if you want to dress up as her cartoon show version, her 2002 movie version, or the upcoming new movie version, but I am certain all three will be as iconic as ever. The best part? You can easily pass her purple dress as an everyday fit.
