Tips for a Successful Fall Semester!!!

I have a few tips if you want to make your fall semester the best one yet!! First-get out of your room!! Oftentimes, my room is cluttered which does not make for a clear mind-sorry to sound cliche- I love going to a coffee shop or the basement of the library. Also, choose wisely who you study around. I love studying with my friends buttt sometimes they are more of a distraction than a help! Also, take the time to get outside! A walk in the Arbo, sunbathing on the Green, or anything that gets you out of your room always helps me reset! It can even be a walk to Harris or Oasis to get a study snack!

Always stay open-minded when it comes to meeting new people and joining new clubs! If a particular club sounds interesting to you, even if you’re unsure about it, just attend a meeting and see how it goes! While it is good to get involved around campus, always make sure you have room in your schedule for time to yourself to relax and recharge. When it comes to academics, meet with all your professors as soon as possible to find out how you can be successful in the class. Also, make sure to switch your study spots often. Getting fresh air helps to clear your mind as well, so studying outside is always a great idea! My go-to outdoor study spots are on the patio in front of the library and Tempel Green! Every Sunday (using whatever scheduling method works for you), write down any activities or meetings you have during the week, along with your classes. Every morning, write down your to-do list for the day — I highly recommend also including an estimated time frame in which you plan to do each task. This really helps with staying on schedule. Lastly, try to get some sort of exercise at least 4 times a week (other than walking) if you aren’t involved in a sport. It sounds crazy, but this will actually improve your focus when studying afterward!
