From the long strolls through Stars Hollow to walking the halls of Chilton, Gilmore Girls provides the comforting, autumn vibe that every girl looks for. The show takes place in a small New England town with neighbors who are more like family. We’re immediately introduced to Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, a mother-daughter duo who have a sisterly bond, given they’re only 16 years apart. Yes, you heard that right.

Lorelai Gilmore comes from a wealthy family in Hartford, Connecticut, but their dynamic is strange, to say the least. So, from that unusual family dynamic blooms another bizarre one in which we, as the watchers, go through with them. We go through high school, college, adulthood, boyfriends, marriages and so much more with the Gilmore Girls.

Not only is it one of the best girlhood/womanhood shows to watch, but it also takes us through an iconic, Y2K, early-2000s autumn and winter season. From their tightly layered button-down shirts to their suede knee-high boots, we’re fully immersed in the fashion culture of the early 2000s. We even get a sneak peek of the iconic pink Baby Phat Motorola!

Winter season in Stars Hollow is my personal favorite. When Lorelai smells snow, you already know she’s going to be in the cutest beanie, scarf and gloves combo!

But honestly, what makes Gilmore Girls the perfect fall show isn’t just the clothes or the weather; it’s the feeling that comes with Stars Hollow. There’s something about watching everyone gather at Luke’s Diner, seeing the town prepare for yet another festival, or watching Lorelai and Rory have their Friday night dinners that makes you want to be a part of it all. The changing leaves, cozy coffee shops, small-town drama and the constant feeling that everyone somehow knows everyone make Stars Hollow feel like the ultimate fall escape. Even when the weather gets colder, the town somehow stays warm. And maybe that’s what makes Gilmore Girls so comforting: you’re not just watching Lorelai and Rory live their lives; you start to feel like you’re living in Stars Hollow with them.

P.S. If you start watching today and watch about 4-5 episodes per week, the season changes and holidays align with our real-life calendar!

Her goal is to bring together her interest in communication, advocacy, and justice in a way that allows her to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
Beyond academics, Emma Jae has a strong interest in creative writing and reading. She enjoys exploring personal pieces because they provide an opportunity to understand experiences, voices, and perspectives that may differ from her own. She believes that listening to and engaging with different perspectives can challenge assumptions and encourage people to think beyond what they already know. This interest also connects to her appreciation for expressing ideas that may not always be the most popular or widely discussed. She is particularly drawn to conversations surrounding advocacy, identity, culture, and the experiences that shape how people see the world.
As an avid reader, Emma Jae especially enjoys thriller and romance novels. Reading allows her to explore different characters, relationships, and perspectives while also inspiring her own interest in creative writing. Whether through her academic work, advocacy interests, or writing, she hopes to continue developing her voice and creating space for stories and perspectives that deserve to be heard.
