Everything You Need To Know Before Seeing Harry Styles Live

If you have a Harry Styles concert coming up, first of all: I’m jealous. Secondly, you need to prepare yourself.

Harry Styles is currently half(ish) way through his 30-night residency in New York City. His Together, Together tour is taking over Madison Square Garden for a show every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. These 30 shows mark his only U.S. stop in his 2026 wave of shows (and quite possibly some of his last arena shows… ever), so it surely is the place for all of his “American Girls” this year.

Truthfully, seeing Harry Styles live is not just a concert. It’s a community banding together, complete with ties and sequins.

As someone who just saw Harry at MSG, here’s everything you need to know.

First Things First: The Outfit

Obviously, we have to talk about the outfit.

Harry Styles concerts are one of those rare occasions where you can basically wear whatever you want. Sparkles? Yes. A cute tie accessory? Obviously. A dress you’ve been waiting for an excuse to wear? This is your excuse.

MSG truly is an entire fashion show when Harry comes into town: you will see people dressed in everything from full Harry-inspired outfits to jeans and a cute top. People go all out on DIY outfits or just show up day-of. There really is no wrong answer.

My advice? Wear something you feel good in, but remember you’ll probably be standing, dancing, and screaming for several hours. Cute and comfortable is the goal.

Get To MSG Early

Getting to a concert early is not always fun. But if you’re going to Harry, I would give yourself more time than you think you need.

MSG has been going all out for the Together, Together residency, with themed food and drinks, photo-ops, and early merchandise opportunities throughout the run. Every night has a unique poster with the date of the show. Don’t make the same mistake I did and get there after they sell out…

Plus, you’ll want time to take pictures. The billboards outside of MSG feel like they take forever to cycle back to the Together, Together advertisement… trust me, it takes more time than you would think.

The Pop-Up Is A MUST

Now for one of the most exciting parts: the Harry Styles pop-up.

The Together, Together pop-up is located at 22 East 2nd Street in the East Village and is running through Nov. 1. It includes merchandise and experiences tied to the new tour. There are vending machines with Harry-themed prints that are adorable. Plus, every show date has its own pin that you can collect.

The pop-up has a whole Harry-themed experience, including a replica subway station, a “Next Stop: Madison Square Garden” sign, karaoke, a disco ball, and plenty of photo opportunities. You can collect tons of cute memorabilia. If you are an American Express cardholder, there are additional perks… so don’t be afraid to use them!

My opinion? If you’re already going to be in New York for Harry, you might as well make a whole day out of it.

Just keep in mind that pop-up entry is first-come, first-served and subject to capacity, so I would definitely set some time aside for it. When I waited in line, I questioned if it was worth it, and trust me, it definitely was.

The Actual Concert

There is something genuinely surreal about hearing thousands of people scream the same Harry Styles lyrics at the exact same time. I went into the show not knowing the setlist, so every minute felt like a new surprise. In hindsight, maybe this was a mistake because I thought he was introducing Ever Since New York (a.k.a. my favorite song ever) every two seconds, but you get the point. Even if I had looked into it and “prepared,” I don’t think I would’ve ever been ready for this.

The best part is that Together, Together feels like exactly what the name suggests: a giant room full of people who are all there to have a good time together. You’re going to dance. You’re going to scream. You’re probably going to cry at least once.

And if one of your favorite songs starts playing? Good luck.

Don’t Forget About Harryween

If you happen to be going to the Oct. 30 or Oct. 31 shows at MSG, you’re in for an especially fun night. I’m so jealous (please bring me with you)…

Those shows are being treated as Harryween, which means Halloween costumes are very much encouraged, and honestly, required. Harryween hasn’t happened since LA in 2022… place your bets on what Harry will dress up as this year. I still think Danny Zuko from Grease was iconic.

Honestly, if you’ve ever wanted an excuse to wear an extremely elaborate Halloween costume in public, this is probably your moment.

But actually… there’s more?

On Sept. 10, Harry announced that Together, Together will continue into 2027 with an additional stadium run across North America and Europe. The new dates include stops in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Dallas, Toronto, Atlanta, and Chicago, followed by European dates. The dates extend well into the summer, too, so you don’t have to worry about finals stress.

So, if you missed out on the MSG shows, don’t immediately spiral. You may have another chance.

After seeing firsthand how special the MSG residency is, I can understand why Harry decided he wasn’t quite done with Together, Together yet.

The Most Important Part: Actually Enjoy It

This is your reminder to put your phone down every once in a while. I’ve made it a personal goal to be more present during the concerts I go to and not just sit with my camera open the whole time.

Yes, take pictures and videos. Absolutely record your favorite song. After all, you need the obligatory blurry concert photo for your Instagram Story.

But take a moment to look around.

There are thousands of people in the same room, all screaming the same words to songs that probably mean something completely different to each person there. You might be there with your best friends. Someone else might have flown across the country. Someone might have been waiting years for this exact moment. The Harry Styles fanbase is so welcoming and kind that it turns strangers into family in one night.

You only get that specific night once. We truly do belong together.
