It’s been a huge week for Taylor Swift, with the release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore on Sept. 25, and it’s only going to get bigger on when the VMAs air on Sunday, Sept. 27. The pop singer is up for nine awards — including Best Album, Artist of the Year, and Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia” — and she’s slated to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honors for her self-directed music videos. On top of all that, Swift announced that she will premiere her new music video for her latest single, “Patient Zero” starring herself, Dakota Johnson, and Colin Farrell during the show. We all know Taylor Swift is Travis Kelce’s “favorite dish,” according to her new song “Cleveland!” — but will Kelce be at the VMAs cheering Swift on at this year’s awards show?
While Swift did not attend the 2025 VMAs last year, she did make an appearance in 2024, and even shouted out her future husband in her Video of the Year acceptance speech for “Fortnight.” She said, “I’d say cut, and we’d be done with that take, I would always just hear someone cheering, and like, ‘Wooo!’ from across the studio where we were shooting it, and that one person was my boyfriend, Travis. Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic. So I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot, because I’ll always remember that.”
Unfortunately, Kelce was unable to make it to the VMAs that year because he had a Chiefs game, and it seems like that’ll be the case for this year, too. Kelce will be in Miami for the Chiefs’s game against the Dolphins, which is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. EST. The 2026 VMAs will be taking place in Los Angeles and air live at 7:30 p.m. EST, so, unless he can magically teleport to Los Angeles sometime after his game ends, it seems unlikely that he’ll be in attendance.
But even though the newlyweds will be in separate cities Sunday night, at least he already took her to Cleveland. You can catch the 2026 MTV VMAs at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV.
