2026 Halloween Costume Ideas And Ways to Execute Them

“In girl world, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.” Cady Heron said it best. Halloween is the perfect time to be anything you want to be, no matter how outrageous it is. But these days it’s kind of hard to be unique when there are so many people wearing the same costumes, and it seems impossible to come up with new and fresh ideas. After scouring the internet, I found some really fun, creative, and niche costumes that could be perfect for anyone this Halloween season. 

1. Bed Bug

My roommate actually suggested a Bed Bug costume, as she is thinking about wearing it this year. She said she first saw it on TikTok and has been looking for inspo on Pinterest.  I think this costume would be so much fun to create because you can go as simple or intricate as you want with it. The main components of the costume are the bug antenna headband or other headwear and any type of nightwear, such as a nightgown, robe, PJ set, or lingerie dress. You could also add slippers, an eye mask, wings, bug-like makeup and accessories, and a small blanket or stuffed animal. This costume could also be good for all ages, genders, and settings. You could dress it up more for a party or even keep it simple for a chill Halloween night in. 

2. Seafood Boil

I never thought of a “seafood boil” as a Halloween costume or really anything else other than food, but after I stumbled upon a TikTok of a girl dressed up as it, it seemed like a great idea. In the TikTok, the girl wore a neutral dress, with the typical seafood boil foods attached all over it. Over top, she had a poncho and fishnets on her arms and legs to emulate the bags the seafood comes in. I think she brought the costume together perfectly, but a few things to bring it even further could be plastic gloves to match the poncho, a cute headpiece such as a lemon headband, and maybe even a seafood-inspired purse. This costume could also be turned into a couple’s costume if one person dresses as a lobster or shrimp and the other continues the theme of the seafood boil customer by wearing the poncho and gloves. 

3. Baddie Fuggler 

This next one is probably the most random out of the whole list, but as someone who became obsessed with Fugglers this year, I am definitely considering this as my costume for the upcoming Halloween. A Baddie Fuggler is one of the new collections of Fugglers released this year. To specify, a Fuggler is similar to a collectible like a Squishmallow, except that, as the name suggests there uglier and more out-there looking than a typical cute toy. Some of the Baddie Fugglers’ key features include piercings, voluminous lashes, and very 2000s-themed colors. A few ways you could bring this costume to life are by wearing fur arm and leg warmers, fur boots, body paint, lots and lots of showy jewelry, and obviously 2000s-themed clothing with lots of bright colors and patterns. The Baddie Fugglers also partnered with New York Fashion Week this year, so you could find some inspo from the runways incorporating their designs. Since Baddie Fugglers is a collection, this idea could be great for a big group looking to match as well. 

4. Favorite Drink

The last idea I came up with, you could really have a lot of creativity and uniqueness with, as it is the broadest one. A favorite drink could be anything from a Baja Blast to a Bloody Mary, which is what I originally saw being recreated on Instagram. I think the best way to go about creating this costume is to find fabrics or materials that remind you of the drink, add them to a base layer, and go from there. Then, you can add more prominent accessories such as a headpiece or purse that is a garnish or an ingredient of your drink. You could also do whimsical makeup that incorporates colors from your drink. This costume could also be another fun one for a group because it’s a good way for you to all stand out but still be cohesive. 

All of these Halloween costumes are perfect for when you want to stand out but not show up to a party and have no one have any idea what you’re supposed to be. They also each can be taken super far or be really chill and easily recreateable with items that you might already own. They truly can contain as much creativity as you want because they aren’t super specific or have a set way of how they’re supposed to look, based on your own accord. Similar to what Cady Heron said, why be basic on Halloween when you can be anything you want and not get judged for it? So go out and have fun and wear whatever you want this Halloween!
