As we Skidmore students settle back into campus life, it can sometimes feel like there are too many events to keep track of. Between making new friends, school-sponsored events, and exploring the Saratoga, we’re lucky to have so many options to choose from! In case it’s all a little overwhelming, though, here’s a handy list of amazing events you could attend out in the community, this weekend and beyond.
Adirondack Balloon Festival at Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport
A Skidmore favorite! Beautiful hot air balloon shows at sunrise and sunset, along with food, music, and family activities throughout the day. Entry is free and the event goes through this Sunday the 20th.
Harvest Festival at the Altamont Fairgrounds
Farmers market, craft vendors, fall activities like pumpkin carving, and even a car show. Admission is $10 and it’s this weekend only.
Freeman’s Farm Anniversary Encampment at Saratoga National Historical Park
A performance by historical reenacters for the anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Freeman’s Farm. Any history majors out there? This weekend only, September 18-20th.
Double M Haunted Hayrides in Ballston Spa
Our iconic haunted hayride and haunted houses are officially open for the season beginning this Saturday the 19th!
Saratoga Springs Oktoberfest at Artisanal Brew Works
Traditional Oktoberfest food and beer, live music, and an outfit contest. What more could you ask for? September 26th, noon-9pm.
Sunflower Fest at Dancing Grain Farm Brewery
Pick-your-own sunflowers, live music and local food at a nearby brewery with a beautiful sunflower field. Tickets are on sale every day through September and Sundays through October.
Whether you’re looking for good food or something festive, hopefully these events inspire you to grab friends, get off campus, and enjoy autumn.
