Since moving to St. Louis, fall has become my favorite time of year. I am from Texas, a state that is known for its heat and unpredictable weather. In Texas, we do not get four true seasons. It is hot for eleven months out of the year and then cold for one. From fun fall festivities to cool sweater weather and the colorful changing of leaves in Forest Park, there are so many reasons to fall in love with St. Louis in the fall.
One of my favorite things about fall in St. Louis is all the fun outdoor events the city has to offer. The Balloon Glow Festival is my personal favorite. Right as the sun hits the horizon, the sky is lit up by the glow of the hot air balloons. Oktoberfest is another fun event that combines German tradition with the lively soul of St. Louis. It’s a great way to gather with friends and enjoy music, food, and drinks. Of course, no fall season would be complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch. Eckert’s farm is the perfect spot to pick pumpkins, go on rides, and enjoy seasonal food.
Another reason why fall is the best is that I love sweater weather. There is a much shorter cold weather window in Texas. After moving to St. Louis, my sweater collection has doubled. I love waking up on a chilly morning, grabbing a warm coffee, and putting on my favorite sweater. Or maybe it is Monday night football, and I am snuggled up on the outdoor couch in my thick sweater. Sweaters are a staple for fall fashion because you can be warm and cozy while also being stylish.
The changing leaves were the final touch that made me fall in love with St. Louis, in the first place. When I first visited St. Louis in the fall, I was blown away by the colorful trees in Forest Park. Red, orange, and yellow painted across the landscape as you walk through the park. On a cool autumn day, the park is filled with others, also taking in the scenery and enjoying the season. The changing of the leaves in Forest Park is a view I wish everyone would get to see. After experiencing fall here, it is easy to see why I am FALLing for St. Louis.
