If you know anything about me, you know I am constantly doing something. The simple fact of the matter is that if I have the opportunity for free time, I will manage to fill it up with something.
I used to tell people that if I wasn’t in one place, you could walk around campus and find me. I tend to be everywhere, constantly running in multiple different directions.
Last year, I worked three jobs, was on the executive boards of clubs, and took eighteen credits. My mind had fourteen tabs open at every single turn in my brain.
This semester is, or was, the exact opposite. I only have classes Tuesday and Thursday, and I only work around eight hours a week. I took a step back in clubs, wanting to spend more time enjoying college and focusing on myself. I wanted to give more to what is happening rather than what could or should be.
And I hate to say that my chosen calmness has come to an end.
I have now started another position at my job, started being more involved in other clubs, and upped my work hours. As much as this causes stress to me, it’s only because I don’t set up my time well.
I am beyond excited to start this job, help it grow, be more involved in things that interest me that I never gave time to before, and work more in a place I love. But now, my free time has slowly started to shrink.
In my now limited free time, I have to schedule my time better. The library will now see me more than I would like to admit.
I am not someone who sits still; I don’t like it. I like being part of clubs, starting and leading new parts at my jobs, and I love creating new hobbies.
I love being a jack of all trades, if you will.
As much as this sometimes sucks, because it is often the same week that everything needs to be done, I love being able to make plans, schedule out times for when things need to be done, and fit in everything I possibly can. And after all of that, I still am done with time to spare.
So, as I continue on this year, I will continue to be a jack of all trades, add in enough things to send myself multiple waves of stress, but love every minute of it. I will continue to say that I am constantly running.
So look anywhere on campus, and you’ll find me.
