Sometimes, a normal school day begins to feel mundane. The same routine over and over again might make your life feel dull. However, life does not have to feel this way. There are plenty of ways to romanticize a regular school day, and it all begins with a change in your mindset.

This change is a real challenge and something that is definitely easier said than done. However, this is a crucial step in making your life feel less boring. We see school get romanticized in television, movies and even on social media. In these cases, there’s not much about these school situations that differs from our own. You just need to look at reality with a new set of eyes.

Picture this: you’re scrolling through Instagram to see a clip of an influencer’s Day In the Life video. In the video, she’s experiencing what seems to be an aesthetic school day. You stop for a moment, wishing your school day could be as exciting as this. Now, what is it about her day that truly differs from yours? Honestly nothing, and your life can easily be aesthetic too.

The first step is putting on an outfit you love and feel confident in. It may sound silly, but it truly makes a big difference. When you feel confident, chances are you will start doing things you normally wouldn’t do because you feel insecure. Don’t be afraid to break social norms too! If you want your day to stand out, you should stand out too.

Next, romanticize normal experiences. Maybe you like to grab coffee every morning. Why not switch it up a bit? Now that Fall is upon us, why not grab a pumpkin spice latte? As they say, “variety is the spice of life.” Just think, if you saw it on social media, it would immediately be aesthetic.

Sidequesting is another great way to make your life feel less mundane. If you spend more time on campus exploring, you’ll see that there’s most likely a club hosting something fun, or a pop up taking place somewhere.

It’s also important to try to add meaning to your life. Everyone needs a purpose. Do you feel like you’ve lived up to your purpose if you stayed in bed for hours, doomscrolling in your pajamas? Most likely not. Even picking up an on-campus job gives you something else to do and helps you feel like you’ve made a difference. Volunteer opportunities are also around every corner, if you don’t want the commitment a job requires.

Making time for your friends is also a great idea. Good friends add color to your life, and being able to see them between classes, even if it’s just to work on assignments or study together, is a great way to spend the time.

Another odd but great way to romanticize your school day is to spend as much time as humanly possible on campus. It’s hard to feel part of the school community when you rush to and from campus, only attending your few classes. Staying on campus will have you amazed how productive your day will be, and it allows more time to immerse yourself in student life.

The student experience is also not just limited to campus. You can also study in a cafe or local library. This allows your day to go from boring and uneventful to special and exciting.

Another way to enjoy your time as a student is to set personal goals for yourself. Maybe there’s a hobby you want to pick up, a life goal you want to accomplish, or a book you want to read. These goals will help you feel like you have way more going on besides your classes. Getting off your phone and experiencing life the way it’s meant to be lived will make anyone’s life seem more interesting. Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself either!

Journaling ideas is great because if you write down everything you did, you might be surprised to see just how much it really was. You can also write down some goals you have for yourself. If you write them down, you may be more inclined to achieve them.

When reflecting on your day, by focusing on all the good and not harping on the negative, you’ll eventually come to see that your life is already an aesthetic experience, and there are plenty of ways to romanticize the mundane, including a regular school day.
