Ever After High, created by Mattel in 2013, is an animated web and television series that eventually aired on Netflix. It was made as a companion series to Monster High, which was created by the same company. The show is centered around the children of famous fairy tale characters and explores the idea of whether they should follow the paths their parents created for them.

The story of Ever After High follows the lives of the teenage sons and daughters of famous fairy tale characters. In the show, there is a conflict between the students, who are split into two groups: Royals and Rebels. The Royals, led by Apple White, daughter of Snow White, are the group of students who want to follow in their parents’ footsteps and keep their stories alive. However, the Rebels, led by Raven Queen, daughter of the Evil Queen, want to have the right to control their own destinies.

The main conflict within the show centers around signing the “Story Book of Legends” on Legacy Day. This is a central event in the story where it is a tradition for students to sign the book, repeat their parents’ exact stories, and make sure that their magical worlds continue. The school’s headmaster, Milton Grimm, tells the students that if they do not sign the book, their stories will no longer exist and they will eventually vanish. This creates a lot of pressure for the students, especially Raven, because her destiny requires her to become the Evil Queen.

While dealing with the main conflict, the characters also face different problems throughout the show. They have to deal with things such as curses, traveling to Wonderland, and the Narrators, who interfere and try to force the characters back into their traditional stories. Throughout the series, the characters learn more about friendship, identity, and making their own choices.
