Fall Decor on a College Budget

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is decorating! But, cute decorations can get expensive quickly, especially if you’re on a college budget. For the girls who want to add some spice to their dorm this fall season, here are my favorite decor DIYs!

DIY Paper Leaf Garland

Add a little autumn charm to an empty wall, desk, or headboard with this super easy leaf garland! It’s such an easy way to incorporate fall colors without taking up much space.

What You’ll Need:

• Fall-colored paper (orange, brown, cream, dark green)
• Scissors
• String or twine
• Hole puncher

Directions:

1. Draw or trace different leaf shapes onto your colored paper
2. Cut out the leaves (make them all different sizes for a more natural look!)
3. Hole-punch a hole into the top of each leaf
4. String the twine through the leaves 
5. Hang it up and display your work! 

Cute tip: Add a few paper pumpkins or acorns between the leaves!

Fall Themed Mason Jar

Turn an ordinary jar into a cute fall accent for your desk or nightstand! It spices up your room, while adding a nice ambience in the evening.

What You’ll Need:

• Mason jar or any clear glass jar
• Ribbon
• Artificial fall leaves
• OPTIONAL: Battery-operated fairy lights 

Directions:

1. Tie a fall-colored ribbon around the top of the jar
2. Fill the jar with artificial leaves or small decorative branches 
3. For a cozy nighttime decoration, place battery-operated fairy lights inside

Fall Book Stack

If you’re a book lover and want to add a fall vibe to your books, this is the craft for you. It takes practically no crafting skills and looks great on your desk or nightstand!

What You’ll Need:

• 2-4 old books 
• Ribbon 
• Small faux pumpkin

Directions:

1. Stack the books on top of each other
2. Tie the ribbon around the whole stack
3. Place the mini pumpkin on top 

DIY Fall Wall Hanging

Looking to give an empty wall a fall update? Use this simple yarn decoration to add some texture to the space!

What You’ll Need:

• Yarn in 2-3 fall colors
• Wooden dowel or stick
• Scissors
• Ribbon
• Twine
• OPTIONAL: Faux leaves

Directions:

1. Cut pieces of yarn to your desired length
2. Tie the yarn pieces around the wooden dowel until you have a full row
3. Mix different colors and lengths to give it some texture!
4. Add a few faux leaves or a ribbon for an extra autumn touch
5. Tie a piece of twine to both ends of the dowel and hang it on your wall

Fall Bow Decor 

A few little bows can make your room feel instantly more festive, and it’s super easy! Use these fall bows to decorate your mirror, shelves, lamp, or even your walls.

What You’ll Need:

• Ribbon in fall colors
• Scissors
• Small pieces of tape 
• Removable adhesive

Directions:

1. Cut a piece of ribbon about 8-12 inches long
2. Make a bow by looping both ends toward the center 
3. Tie or wrap a smaller piece of ribbon around the middle to secure it
4. Make a few bows in different sizes 
5. Attach them to your mirror, shelves, lamp, or walls using the removable adhesive
