Hello, everyone! Over the past few weeks, I have been reminiscing on many of the tv shows that Generation Z would watch during the late 2000s. I know that for me, Disney and Nickelodeon were my absolute favorites that I would delve into. Due to the variety of topics and wide range of celebrities that each show was built on, it made every day by the television to be an absolute joy.
Movie #1: High School Musical
This movie was one of my first real exposures to the Disney Channel realm and all of the spirit that the channel had to offer. Knowing that my older sisters grew up on this movie as well is really interesting to me as well. From having Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens staring in the movie, this brought many children including myself into the trap of Disney Channel. The movie featured some of the most iconic choreography for the early years of Disney Channel, which always stood out to me. Additionally, many of the songs are also featured in some TikTok edits and could be brought up in the next “Guess that Song Challenge” with your friend group. Some of my favorite songs from this film include: “Start of Something New” and “Breaking Free.”
Movie #2: The Lizzie McGuire Movie
Although, this movie may not be at the top of everyone’s priority list, I believe that there is more to the movie than what meets the eye. Having Hilary Duff as the leading role within the movie was a great decision on Disney Channel’s end. This movie is a great nostalgic feel to bring everyone back to their younger childhood years. If you have free time in the coming weeks, this is definitely a movie that you should check out! Not everyone may know what this movie is due to it being made in the early 2000s, but it is a enjoyable watch for sure!
Show #1: K.C. Undercover
K.C. Undercover has to be one of the greatest creations that Disney Channel produced. Zendaya has skyrocketed as a star especially within the past decade or so due to her kickstart with this show. The theme song for the TV show will stop every Disney Channel lover in their footsteps. With well-executed “fight” scenes, this show gives you a thrill while also giving you the “family feel” that everyone is looking for. If you haven’t checked out this series, this is a “must watch” on my end.
Show #2: iCarly
Although, Nickelodeon was my second choice as a child (I know, it’s controversial), I still have a place in my heart for iCarly. iCarly had many guest stars featured within the show that I believe allowed for the show to succeed as well as it did. Both Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy were a staple as to why iCarly became as popular as it did. Having leading stunts and silly jokes throughout iCarly allowed for many of its viewers to return back for each returning season. Due to the shows’ popularity, they even have created a reboot for iCarly that aired in the past few years.
Overall, I believe that there are many nostalgic TV shows and movies that can allow you to time travel back to your childhood years. At times, I will delve into each of these forms of entertainment to reminisce on the quality of shows from the late 2000s and early 2010s. Personally, for me, I think that each of these TV shows and movies are worth the watch!
