Thirty, flirty, and thriving: Dua Lipa turns 31 and celebrates another year of pop superstardom

When you think of Dua Lipa, you probably picture the stereotype of a pop star: someone who makes hit songs, has a lot of money, has a beautiful partner, and goes on tour. And that is true, but she is much  more than that.

From new Rules to Pop Stardom

Born in the United Kingdom, daughter of immigrants from Kosovo, Dua began her career at 14 years old, by posting covers on YouTube. But it was in 2017, with her famous hit “New Rules”, that she gained worldwide attention.

In 2019, the singer won the Grammy for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for “Electricity”, a collaboration with Silk City. In 2020, with her album Future Nostalgia, she showed she was here to stay. The hits “Levitating” and “Don’t Start Now” dominated the music charts during the pandemic and solidified the artist’s place in the music industry.

Traveling the world and counting

Many fans say that Dua is “addicted to living,” mostly because of the way she spends her breaks between shows. Since the start of the Radical Optimism Tour in 2024, launched to promote her third album of the same name, Dua has constantly been praised for genuinely enjoying her travels and immersing herself in local culture.

During her trips, the singer is often spotted in local bars, parties, shops, and beaches. Her reputation as a true traveler became so well known that Dua partnered with Google Maps and selected more than 130 of her favorite places across 47 cities worldwide.

The balance for success

The phrase “Lucky in ‘cards’, unlucky in love” may prove true, but not for Dua Lipa. In May 2026, the singer married actor Callum Turner in London. But they didn’t stop there; in June, the couple held a grand celebration in Sicily, Italy. The celebration lasted three days and featured various performances such as Elton John, David Guetta, and Carl Cox.

It has been proven that Dua knows how to party, but at the same time, she knows how to take care of her body and her mind. In 2024 she declared to Rolling Stone she isn’t very good with therapy, but she believes her friends do this job in her life, by being confidants and supporting her.

Besides her friends, the pop star has always made her love for reading clear, so much so that she created her own book club, the Service95 Book Club. She has also said that books helped her get through different moments in life, adding that “the older I get, the more I understand how books can carry you through certain periods of your life.”

More than a popstar

Throughout her career in the media, Dua has been deeply politically engaged, consistently defending human rights, including women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and racial equality.

The singer is also the founder of the Sunny Hill Foundation, which supports vulnerable communities in Kosovo. The foundation also organizes the Sunny Hill Festival, which boosts the regional economy and raises money for social projects in Kosovo, such as supporting young women in science and mental health.

With all that, it’s easy to say that Dua Lipa is a real pop star. She doesn’t just “make music,” she knows how to enjoy life like a true diva, but she also knows exactly when to use her voice to help important causes.
