Off Campus Season 2 is officially bringing one of the series’ most anticipated characters to life. On Aug. 13, it was announced that Shay Rudolph was cast as Summer Di Laurentis, Dean Di Laurentis’ younger sister. And while the actress has been in some pretty big projects already, her casting in Off Campus Season 2 is set to make her a major star.
The casting was announced through the official Off Campus social media pages, with Rudolph and Stephen Kalyn (who plays Dean) appearing together in a short video teasing their sibling dynamic. Based on the clip alone, it looks like the Di Laurentis siblings will have plenty of personality. The casting also seems very on-point, because Rudolph and Kalyn genuinely look like they could be real-life siblings.
For those who haven’t read Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus books, Summer is introduced in The Score, the third book in the series. Summer is Dean’s younger sister and is known for being outgoing, energetic, and unapologetically herself. She’s also a fashion lover who isn’t exactly known for following the rules. In The Score, she arrives at Briar University after getting into trouble at Brown University, quickly making herself known to Dean and his friends.
However, Summer isn’t just Dean’s chaotic little sister. She is a major character in Kennedy’s companion series, Briar U, where she becomes the love interest of hockey player Colin “Fitzy” Fitzgerald in The Chase. Fans suspect that Summer’s arrival in Off Campus could also bring some drama, as Season 1 introduced Hunter Davenport (Charlie Evans): Not only does Hunter Davenport have history with Summer in The Chase, but he also slept with Allie at the end of Season 1. Juicy.
Essentially, this makes Rudolph’s casting especially exciting for fans who have been waiting to see more of Kennedy’s larger hockey universe come to life. It seems as though Summer could serve as a bridge between the original Off Campus characters and the stories that follow them — which is super exciting to think about. (More Off Campus? I’m in!)
Who is Shay Rudolph?
As for Rudolph, fans of Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club may recognize her as Stacey McGill, the stylish and ambitious member of the babysitting group. Rudolph also appeared in I Wish You All the Best and The Sex Lives of College Girls. She currently leads Disney+’s upcoming Holes reboot and recently starred in She Keeps Me Young, which premiered at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival.
Now, Rudolph is stepping into the role of another fashion-forward, big-personality character — and fans are already excited to see how she brings Summer to life. With Season 2 currently in production and no confirmed premiere date, there’s still plenty to wait for. But one thing is certain: the Di Laurentis family is officially coming to Off Campus.
