If there is one thing Kylie Jenner knows how to do, it’s throw a birthday party. The beauty influencer and celebrity celebrated her 29th birthday a little early this year with an ultra-feminine “Princess Kitty” themed bash, and honestly, it might be the perfect inspiration for your next birthday. So, if you’re looking for how to throw a “Princess Kitty” birthday party, then you’ve come to the right place.

Jenner celebrated with friends and family at her Beverly Hills home on Saturday, Aug. 8, ahead of her actual birthday on Aug. 10. She gave followers a peek at the festivities on Instagram, showing off an all-pink party complete with feather boas, tiaras, elaborate cakes and plenty of famous faces. Her sisters Kim, Khloé and Kendall Jenner were among the guests, alongside friends including Hailey Bieber, Devon Lee Carlson and Victoria Villarroel. For the occasion, Jenner fully committed to the theme in a hot-pink latex mini dress, matching nails, a pink feather boa, crown and fluffy heels. The dessert table was equally over-the-top, featuring a gemstone-covered cake and a cat-themed cake decorated with the words “Happy Birthday Kitty Kylie.”

Obviously, most of us aren’t throwing a celebrity birthday party at a Beverly Hills mansion — but the best part about the “Princess Kitty” theme is that you don’t have to spend Kylie Jenner money to recreate it. With a few pink decorations, a dress code, and some creative DIY touches, you can turn your next birthday into your own version of Jenner’s pink paradise. Here’s exactly how to do it.

Make pink the official dress code.

The easiest way to instantly make your party feel like Jenner’s is to tell everyone to show up in pink. And don’t be afraid to be specific. Think baby pink, hot pink, bubblegum pink, blush, rose pink, and even sparkly pink. The more shades, the better. Encourage guests to wear pink dresses, skirts, corsets, mini skirts, heels, or whatever makes them feel like a princess. If your friends aren’t ready to commit to a full pink outfit, tell them to accessorize with something pink instead. The goal? Walking into the party should feel like entering an alternate universe where everything is pink.

Stock up on accessories.

This might be the most important rule of the entire party. Jenner wore a fluffy pink feather boa throughout her celebration, and her guests followed the theme with their own boas and pink accessories. Buy a bunch of pink feather boas and put them in a basket by the entrance so everyone can grab one when they arrive. Suddenly, even your friend who showed up in a black top is participating in the theme. Bonus points if you get a mixture of pink shades so your photos have some dimension.

Of course, a “Princess Kitty” party needs princess accessories. Set up a little accessory station with pink tiaras, rhinestone crowns, cat ears, bows, and sparkly hair clips. You can even have a DIY station where guests decorate their own mini crowns ($35) with rhinestones and pearls. Don’t overthink it. The entire aesthetic is supposed to be playful, girly, and slightly ridiculous, in the best possible way.

Decorate your space in pink decor.

You don’t need a professional event planner to recreate Jenner’s decor. Start with the basics: pink balloons, pink streamers, pink tablecloths, and pink flowers. Then add a few more glamorous details like silver or iridescent balloons, rhinestones, and fairy lights. For the tables, layer pink plates and napkins with glassware and sprinkle rhinestones or faux pearls around the centerpiece. If you’re working with a smaller budget, concentrate your decorations in a few areas rather than trying to decorate every inch of your space. A decorated dessert table, photo wall, and entrance will make your party look much more intentional in pictures.

Conveniently, you can get an entire pink decoration kit on Amazon, too.

Make the cake the main event.

Jenner’s birthday dessert spread was anything but basic. Her celebration featured multiple cakes, including a gemstone-covered cake and a pink cat-themed cake reading “Happy Birthday Kitty Kylie.” You can recreate the look without hiring a celebrity cake designer. Order or bake a simple pink cake and cover it with edible pearls, candy gems, or pink sprinkles. Add a cute cat topper and write “Happy Birthday Kitty [Your Name]” across the front. Want to take it a step further? Make the cake the centerpiece of the entire dessert table and surround it with pink cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and candy. And if you really want to channel Jenner, make multiple cakes.

Craft a birthday playlist.

The music should be just as fun as the outfits. Start with your favorite pop and dance songs, then add some nostalgic throwbacks that your friends will scream-sing along to. Think Britney Spears, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Lady Gaga, BeyoncĂ© and, obviously, whatever songs are currently dominating your group’s playlists. The goal isn’t to recreate Jenner’s exact party. It’s to create a night that feels like your version of it.

Whether you’re celebrating your 21st, 22nd, 25th, or just making an excuse to get everyone together, a “Princess Kitty” party is the perfect excuse to go completely over-the-top for one night. And honestly? If Kylie Jenner can decide that turning 29 requires a pink princess-themed birthday party, so can you.
