Being a student is a lot of work. Constantly stressing over course work, personal health and financial stability can be completely overwhelming and leave a student with no time to do anything. Life at Kent State is no different, but when you take a break, you’ll see that there’s more to do on/off campus than study and sleep in your dorm. Come with me as I give you 6 things to add to your Kent State bucket list.

Take a Picture with Flash

Kent State’s mascot has been an Eagle named Flash since the ’80s. I am a junior at Kent and have yet to get a photo with Flash. I swear the mascot is almost impossible to catch. Every time I see Flash it’s too crowded to get my photo, so if you manage to snap a quick picture with our mascot, I applaud you.

Visit The Acorn Alley Market in Downtown Kent

Acorn Alley has the best markets in the area! The market offers the chance to meet someone new and an opportunity to take a cool item home. The vendors are always super sweet and encapsulate the warm feeling you get when it gets a little chilly outside and all you want is a warm drink. There will be more than one opportunity to visit so be sure to check out their social media to see the upcoming market dates.

Events – Main Street Kent

Grab a drink from Scribbles

Speaking of a warm drink, Scribbles is a super cute local cafe that has plenty to offer. It’s important to get out of your comfort zone and I couldn’t think of a better way to do so than with a new drink! The best part about Scribbles would be it’s diverse drink selection. There are always fun seasonal or holiday specific drinks and you are bound to try something new every time you go!

Meet Todd Diacon

Todd Diacon has been the President of Kent State University since 2019. You’ll probably see him at a basketball game or during move-in week. You can snap a picture or simply say hello, he’s a chill guy and he’ll surely say hi back. Showing up for the faculty and students is nothing new to him and he does his best to participate in activities and events on campus. We couldn’t ask for a better president!

Take a trip to the Kent Stage

The Kent Stage is a local theater that has live performances. It’s always an enjoyable experience there and one you may not get anywhere else. One of, if not, the most popular shows is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Prepare to laugh, scream and enjoy a fun night in downtown Kent.

Join Her Campus!
