Is it hot in here, or is it Ariana Grande’s new album, Petal? The pop star’s eighth studio album dropped July 31, and immediately had fans reaching for a glass of water due to all the spicy lyrics sprinkled throughout the songs.

Fans had some hints about what to expect of the album ahead of its release date. Grande said in a July 29 interview with Apple Music that Petal was written from a place of“unfiltered rage.”

“I usually am too shy to tap into that,” she said in a clip of the interview. “This time I didn’t filter as much as I usually do. I usually do a lot of rewrites and make things a little kinder. This time I didn’t.”

Grande also said in a May 7 Instagram video about the album, “It’s kind of about breaking up with all different kinds of negative attachments, whether it’s my own monsters in the head, external voices that no longer serve me.”
