There are few desserts as universally loved as ice cream. Whether you’re loyal to a classic scoop of vanilla, can’t resist a loaded sundae, or will never say no to a cone on a hot summer day, ice cream is one of those treats that never goes out of style. And with temperatures soaring this summer, there couldn’t be a better excuse to grab your favorite frozen dessert.

Luckily, National Ice Cream Day is almost here. This year, the sweet holiday falls on Sunday, July 19, and, as always, some of the most popular ice cream chains are celebrating with freebies, discounts, and limited-time offers.

National Ice Cream Day has been an annual tradition for more than 40 years. In 1984, President Ronald Regan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month. He designated the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day, recognizing ice cream as a beloved American treat and encouraging people across the country to celebrate. Since then, it has become a yearly event that many of the nation’s biggest dessert chains use to thank customers by offering exclusive promotions, limited-time menu items, and, of course, plenty of free ice cream.

So, if you’re looking for an excuse to treat yourself without spending a fortune, consider this your sign. Whether you’re planning to stop by your favorite local scoop shop or visit a few of the country’s biggest chains, here’s a roundup of the best National Ice Cream Day 2026 deals worth checking out.
