From well-established artists to rising stars, there are plenty of musicians releasing new music this month. Here are just five albums being released in May 2021 that you should be listening to.

Be Right Back – Jorja Smith

Jorja Smith’s new project, “Be Right Back,” will be dropping on May 14. This eight-track project follows Smith’s 2018 debut album “Lost & Found,” and will feature her recently released singles, “Addicted” and “Gone.” The singer, well known for her heartfelt lyrics and unique soulful sound, is sure to stun listeners with an exquisite collection of songs. 

The Off-Season – J. Cole

J. Cole will be releasing his sixth studio album, “The Off-Season,” on May 14. This highly anticipated album comes three years after his 2018 release, “KOD.” In anticipation of the album’s release, the rapper dropped the single “i n t e r l u d e,” on May 6. The new track has debuted at number one on both the US Spotify and US Apple Music charts. The success of this first single brings the promise of a sensational new album. 

Flora Fauna – Billie Marten 

Billie Marten will be dropping her third studio album, “Flora Fauna,” on May 21. The singer-songwriter has released the singles “Creature of Mine,” and “Garden of Eden,” ahead of the album’s launch. Both songs showcase her signature poetic lyricism as well as a stellar new sonic direction that strays from her usual acoustic, laid-back sound. Marten brings the promise of a brilliant new album that displays her musical growth. 

Sour – Olivia Rodrigo 

Olivia Rodrigo’s highly anticipated debut album, “Sour,” is set to be released on May 21. The singer’s hit singles, “drivers license” and “deja vu,” took the world by storm. The album is guaranteed to have infectious melodies and unforgettable lyrics, a signature of Rodrigo’s style. This rising star’s album is bound to top the charts and establish her as a distinctive voice in the pop music landscape. 

Greatest Hits – Waterparks 

Waterparks’ fourth studio album, “Greatest Hits,” is set to release on May 21. Contrary to the somewhat misleading title, the 17 track album is filled with new songs and features the singles “Lowkey as Hell,” “Numb,” “Snow Globe,” and “You’d Be Paranoid Too (If Everyone Was Out to Get You.” The band’s energetic sound and striking lyricism are sure to make for an electrifying new album.
