If you’re an Instagram connoisseur, then you know this road bump all too well: You’ve collected enough images to create your next perfectly curated photo dump. Each picture you took has a story behind it… but you only get one caption. That leaves you with a few options. You could write about each image, numbering them in the caption, but is everyone going to scroll and read? You could also summarize the photo dump, but that doesn’t work if each image feels like a standalone. And not to mention, you don’t want to make each image its own post — that takes away the whole point of a dump! Luckily, Instagram has heard you, and as such, is rolling out a game-changing feature.
Starting June 18, Instagram is giving users the option to add a different caption for every single slide in your carousel feed posts. This news is a serious game-changer for those who like to yap and share, because, after all, a picture is worth 1,000 words.Â
It’s important to note that this new caption feature is only available for posting new carousel posts, not carousels that have already been posted. But, as they say, let’s leave the past in the past and focus on the future. Here’s everything you need to know about Instagram’s new carousel captions feature.
How to find the multiple captions feature in the IG app
In order to utilize this new tool, start by creating a new carousel post. Once you reach the caption section, there will be a toggle that you can use to go from single caption to multiple captions. Once you have selected the multiple captions option, scroll through the images and add a unique caption for each picture. Once you post your carousel, you and your followers can scroll through each slide in the carousel — the captions will change accordingly.
There are so many ways to use this new feature on Instagram. If you own a business as a side hustle, you can go in depth on each product you’re featuring in a carousel. If you’re a creator, step-by-step tutorials can be made easier by using each individual caption as an explanation of each step. If you simply want to share more on your feed, you can easily go into more detail in each caption.
