Instead, according to fans on social media, the “Folklore wall” refers to Spotify’s top day-of album streams for female artists, which Swift covers the top seven slots. Her 2020 album Folklore is the seventh most-streamed debut on the list, making it the “wall” that separated Swift from other female pop artists — such as Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Of course, it’s totally worth noting that the “Folklore wall” isn’t a “real” thing — it’s not backed up by any major publications, foundations, or award shows. Still, even though the “Folklore wall” is a stan Twitter creation, the success of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love makes Rodrigo and Swift the only two female artists in Spotify history to have an album debut with over 80 million streams.
