Before I officially start this article, I just wanted to say that this drink was a Valentine’s Day special and is probably (and unfortunately) not being sold anymore. However, it might make a comeback in the future (I hope) and I really wanted to write about this drink, so here we are. I have also tried quite a few Valentine’s-themed drinks, so keep an eye out for future articles covering them.
Now, let’s get into the real topic of this article: my thoughts on the Strawberry Cheesecake Energy Slush from Atomic.
I’ve tried many different energy drinks during my time at Augustana, but surprising I’ve never had an energy drink with any type of dairy in it. When I saw that Atomic was combining Half and Half along with Strawberry and Cheesecake Syrups in their newest energy creation, it was calling my name. I discovered this drink two weeks after Valentine’s Day, so I was worried that Atomic wasn’t selling it anymore. Luckily, they still had the supplies to make it, so they made a slush just for me.
I’ll also admit, usually I’m super excited to try a new brew, but I was actually a little nervous before trying the Strawberry Cheesecake Slush. There have been cheesecakes that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, but cheesecake isn’t usually my go-to dessert. However, this drink was so unique compared to the others that I’ve tried before that curiosity got the best of me and I took the first sip.
The drink was incredible.
The cream and cheesecake flavors didn’t overpower the Strawberry Syrup like I expected it to, and the sweet and tangy flavors from my favorite fruit were wonderful as always. The cheesecake also added a little tang, but it blended with the strawberry and gave the brew a little “oomph” instead of taking over the entire drink. And as for the Half and Half, it was the cherry on top. It transformed the brew from a simple energy drink into the illusion that I was chowing down on a slice of Strawberry Cheesecake. At the end of the day, Cheesecake still isn’t my go-to desert, but the Strawberry Cheesecake Slush would have been my new go-to brew.
As I have mentioned at the beginning of this article, this drink was a Valentine’s Day special, no Atomic is no longer selling it. However, if it returns, you can expect to see me at the front of the line at the drive-thru.
