Cal Poly students recently elected their ASI President and representatives for the ASI Board of Directors for the 2026-27 school year. The Board of Directors is comprised of a varying number of members from each college, determined by the previous term’s student enrollment. Out of 4,394 students who voted, 93% elected Tanner Schinderle, from the College of Liberal Arts, as president!
Tanner ran a campaign focused on affordability, resources, community, and action. He plans to improve access to dining, housing, and transportation through such means as supporting the Food Pantry, launching airport and beach shuttles, and instating a rental registry for off-campus housing. Additionally, Tanner will advocate for more 24/7 study spaces—for example, opening more floors of the Kennedy Library for more hours. Finally, Tanner’s goals for a livelier on-campus community include increasing clubs’ and organizations’ access to space reservations and hosting more concerts and other events on campus. Tanner’s biggest emphasis is including as many voices as possible in decision making for more comprehensive representation.
Assisting Tanner is the Board of Directors, a panel of students elected to represent each college’s unique needs. The elected board officials are as follows:
