Coming to college for the first time was a thrilling, though very frightening experience. Most of us are truly leaving our comfort zones for the first time ever. It is likely your first time being fully away from your home and your family. Even though it is exciting, this is a gigantic change that takes people a lot of time to adjust to.

Thinking back to August, I remember how uncertain and overwhelmed I felt, convinced that I may never feel okay with being away from home. This was a draining feeling, but it also turned out to be crucial for my character development.

Moving to a new environment for the first time is never going to be easy, but it is all about taking time. I am so glad that I pushed through the first month of feeling uncertain because now I could not imagine my life without being here. Over time, the unfamiliar slowly became familiar, and things that felt overwhelming now excite me.

I have grown both academically and personally. I have adapted crucial study habits as well as learned to manage the challenge of balancing school work with my social life.

I have met some of the best people, joined the most fulfilling clubs, and learned to love my surroundings. It is so sad to think that my freshman year is over, but I cannot wait for what is to come in the next few years here!
