As a creative writer, I utilize several websites for various purposes, including planning, graphic design, and actual writing. There are many programs available for writers, and each is useful in its own way. However, based on my own experience, the programs I use have been great for me.
Google Docs
I’ve always used Google Docs to write, and I haven’t switched to anything else yet. I have a separate drive for my writing, and I use folders to keep everything organized. I also utilize the document tabs feature so I can work on specific chapters if I want to.
Notion
I use Notion for general planning and idea storage. All my story notes and character trackers live there. I love Notion because of how organized it is and how it allows me to be motivated to be organized. It helps that my workspace is very pretty.
Skrib
I joined Skrib not that long ago as a part of an invite-only link. While I haven’t tried it much yet, it’s an all-in-one tool specifically for writers. I plan on continuing to write on Google Docs for the time being, but I picture myself using this for planning projects.
Adobe Express / Canva
I use Adobe Express and Canva for cover design and different posts on my writing account on Instagram. If I want to see something visually, I’ll likely use one of these two platforms. While I want to work on my digital art for cover design, I love the fonts on Adobe Express and Canva.
I use Pinterest to make boards for my stories and characters. So many writers use Pinterest, and it brings life to a story by making visual moodboards.
Spotify
I use Spotify to create playlists for my stories and characters. I love listening to playlists for my characters because it gets me more motivated to write.
Notebook.ai
I use notebook.ai for developing characters, along with Notion. I’ve had my profile for a while now, and I need to update it. However, there are sections to develop characters, settings, and universes. There are also areas to write stories on the platform.
