Hobbies To Try Out This Summer

As we wrap up the spring semester, it’s almost time to say goodbye to campus and head home for the summer. While being home has so many perks, I sometimes find that without the busyness of school, I don’t know what to do with myself at times. For this reason, it’s so nice to have a fun hobby you’re excited about to fill those dull moments. I’ve compiled a list of some cool hobbies that you can try out this summer!

  1. Cooking/baking. I know this seems like a basic hobby, but it’s a tried and true one. There are unlimited possibilities of what you can make, and it can involve so much creativity. The best part is that you’re left with something delicious to eat yourself, or to share with family and friends.
  1. Journaling/scrapbooking. This hobby is a great way to document your life and create something you can look back on years down the road. Whether it’s writing entries about your day or gluing in pictures of memories with friends, it’s so much fun and so easy to do.
  1. Needlepointing. This one is perfect if you’re looking for something chill and relaxing. Additionally, it leaves you with a beautiful final product. As someone who is not the most artistic, I didn’t know if needlepointing would be for me, but it’s so much fun and easier than it looks.
  1. Tennis/pickleball. I’m a fan of getting outside on a nice summer day. Playing tennis or pickleball, if there are local courts in your area, is such a fun activity. You can get competitive with it or just rally with a friend, and either way, it’s a social hobby that gets you moving.

Hopefully, one or more of these ideas have inspired you, and you’ll give them a try when looking for something to do this summer!
