I’m excited to announce I am no longer a virgin! I went to my first concert on Saturday. Uh, what did you think I meant? Anyways, I’ve already written an article breaking down the members and the role they each play within the band, so go check that out on my page!
Now, let’s get into all the fun details! I bought the tickets at the last minute. I got notified that they were coming to New York from a Spotify notification and clicked the link out of curiosity, already expecting the tickets to be for an egregious price. However, I was able to snag floor tickets for only ninety-two dollars.
The concert was proposed to start at 8 pm, and I already knew I had to be there early to get a good spot. I arrived at 4:30 pm and was immediately met by warm smiles from the other individuals standing in line. Seeing as a lot of the outgoing themes for the group are medieval themed, I did my best to follow the dress code.
I wore a loose sheer orange short-sleeved button-up, with a corset and layered two skirts: a long plain white skirt and a long white lace skirt on top with a cardigan. Me being the maximalist that I am, I obviously accessorized to the max and it’s safe to say the girlies loved it.
After idly standing for a while, one of the girls offered to get me something from one of the nearby establishments. Mind you, it was pouring with rain all day. I accepted and shortly after conversing with these girls, they adopted me for the night and showed me all the ropes for my first concert.
After the doors opened and I went through security, the girls saved me a spot directly at the front. I felt so appreciated. I took some of the best photos ever and I sang my heart out until my throat was dry and hoarse by the time I came back home.
The whole experience didn’t feel real. The Last Dinner Party, as well as their opener, Florence Road, put on a show worth remembering. Their vocals sounded even more heavenly in person. I didn’t even think that was possible! And I was sure to purchase merchandise after the concert was over.
I’ve always avoided going to concerts out of fear that the experience would be too overwhelming, especially being directly in the front. Which is funny to admit out loud, seeing as I also have said before that the only way I’d go to a concert is if I was front row or had a decent spot to hear the music.
However, my experience on Saturday was one worth remembering to the point where I’m inspired to go to more concerts! My hope is to meet new people and expand my love for music even more. As for The Last Dinner Party, if they come back to New York City, they will definitely see me again!
