I’ve talked non-stop about summer break for the last few months. When I needed to be locked in, I was fantasizing about waking up without an alarm and lying on a beach somewhere. My classes this semester were no joke, so I’m excited to recover from my massive case of burnout.
Even so, there will be a Tallahassee-sized hole in my heart these next couple of months. Nothing can beat some of FSU’s activities and memories. Here are five things about FSU that I’ll miss this summer!
- Campus Walks
-
If there’s one thing about me, I’m going to take a long walk around campus. FSU’s campus is absolutely gorgeous, and we don’t appreciate its beautiful setting enough.
There’s nothing like walking alongside stretches of brick buildings, with moss-covered trees blocking the sun as there’s a breeze in your hair. I’m also partial to Doak Campbell Stadium walks and debriefs with my friend group whenever there’s lore to be discussed. I always got my steps in this semester, and that will be a fond, fading memory as I sit in my house this summer.
- The Frother’s Daughter
-
Need I say more? I adore seasonal products, so The Frother’s Daughter’s carefully curated monthly menu feels like it was engineered for my enjoyment. No coffee experience will ever beat the first time I had a Frother’s Banana Bread Latte and ascended to heaven. I’ll miss treating myself to my weekly Frother’s coffee on my way to class.
- Leach Fitness Classes
-
You don’t know how lucky you’ve got it with FSU’s free fitness classes — until you have to pay $30 for a Pilates class in your hometown. I loved trying a variety of fitness classes at the Leach Recreation Center this semester!
FSU’s spin classes always had the most creative, fun themes (personal favorite was Heated Rivalry themed), and Total Body Sculpt never failed to kick my butt. Nothing beats the convenience of having all your favorite classes in one place, and I’ll miss the complimentary classes as my bank account slowly depletes.
- FSU Lakefront Park
-
I must admit that I only went to FSU Lakefront Park a couple of times this semester, but we don’t appreciate the full lake, only four miles away from campus, enough. From lake days to beach volleyball, there’s always a community-building activity in the great outdoors to partake in.
I personally loved taking a fire-building and s’mores class this year, although I was mostly in it for the s’mores!
- Spontaneous Side Quests
-
Do I want to get Nuberri frozen yogurt 30 minutes before closing? Yes, I do. At FSU, there are always plenty of foods to eat, a craft to complete, or an event to discover. I must say, boredom is a choice at FSU, and I’ll miss all the spontaneous adventures my friends and I got up to.
These next three months, I’ll await longingly the day I can get Frother’s or walk and debrief with my friends. Have a great summer, and I can’t wait for all of next semester’s adventures!
