My Top 5 Songs Of The Summer

Summer is one of my favorite seasons. The vibes are just so much better, everyone is out and about and just happier that it’s finally warm after the colder seasons. There’s something about the sunshine, longer days, and being outside more that makes everything feel a little easier. Even small things, like driving with the windows down or hanging out late with friends, feel better in the summer.

A big part of what makes summer feel so good for me is music. Certain songs just fit the season perfectly and instantly put me in a better mood. Here are some of my go-to songs that completely match that summer energy.

1. “Don’t shut me down” by abba

ABBA songs are some of the most summery songs ever. This song in particular gives the best vibes for the summer. This song has that classic ABBA sound that just makes everything feel a little more fun and a little less serious. It’s catchy in a comforting way, like the kind of song you’d randomly start singing without realizing it. It gives that light, feel-good energy that makes even boring days feel a bit brighter. This will always be one of my go-to songs for the summer.

2. “mr. electric blue” by benson boone

This song feels like pure sunshine. The energy is so bright and uplifting that it kind of pulls you out of whatever mood you’re in. It’s the type of song that makes even basic things like running errands or just walking around feel more exciting. This song has that “something good is about to happen” feeling, even when nothing is actually happening. I like listening to it when I want to feel more awake, motivated, or just in a better headspace overall. Listening to this song when it’s warm and sunny out will always bring the mood up.

3. “ophelia” by the lumineers

The song “Ophelia” has that perfect mix of calm and movement. It doesn’t feel rushed, but it still has energy, which makes it really good for summer drives or late afternoon hangouts. There’s something about it that feels nostalgic, like it’s tied to memories you haven’t even fully made yet. It kind of turns normal moments into something that feels a little more meaningful without you even realizing it. It’s one of those songs that just fits in the background of good summer days.

4. “lush life” by zara larson

This song is basically carefree summer energy in music form. It’s upbeat, catchy, and honestly a little addictive in a way that makes you want to replay it without thinking. It feels like being in a good mood for no reason at all, which is one of the best parts of summer. It’s the kind of song that works for getting ready, hanging out with friends, or just having a random burst of energy where everything feels fun. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly why it fits summer so well. Listening to this song makes me feel like summer is truly never-ending.

5. “chiquittita” by abba

This one slows things down a bit, but in a really nice way. It has a softer, more emotional sound that works perfectly for the quieter parts of summer — think sunsets, late-night talks, or just sitting outside when everything is calm. It adds a reflective side to your playlist without making it feel sad or heavy. It’s more like a pause in the day where everything feels still for a second, which balances out the upbeat songs really well.

At the end of the day, my summer playlist isn’t about having everything perfectly planned or sticking to one type of music. My playlist is a mix of songs that match the feeling of the season: light, easy, a little nostalgic, and something I can play over and over again without getting bored. Summer already has its own energy, and the right music just makes it feel even more alive.

For me, it’s less about the specific artists and more about how the songs make me feel in the moment. Whether it’s something upbeat that makes me want to move or something calm that fits a sunset, it all just blends into the background of summer memories. And honestly, I think that’s what makes a good playlist, it doesn’t just fill silence, it fits into your life without you even noticing.
