Shows to Put on as White Noise When You Want to Fall Asleep

Shows that I don’t have to mindfully pay attention to are my favorites.

Picture this: after a long day, you’re freshly showered, fully moisturized, and in bed with your water bottle filled to the brim with ice-cold water. All that’s left is to put on a show, but not just any show. You want to put on a show that’s stimulating enough to hold your attention for like 5 minutes, but not important enough to keep you awake. If this matches your freak, keep reading.

Family Guy

This show has me knocked out within 10 minutes. That being said, you should set a limit on how much you watch, because I’ve watched it to the point where I tell my friends, “Oh, this reminds me of this one Family Guy episode where…” There’s an inexplicable sense of shame that creeps over me that I don’t want to bestow upon you.

It’s silly enough to make me giggle, but I’m not going to stay up to see what happens next.

Bob’s Burgers

This show cracks. me. up.

Have I overwatched it? Yes.

Did I make my roommates watch my favorite episode? Yes.

Do I have a favorite episode? Yes, I already said that; you have got to catch up.

(My favorite episode is “Seaplane” Season 4 Episode 3, trust it’s hilarious)

Broad city

To be honest, this works as a sleep show and an awake show. It follows these two girls in New York who go through day to day with an exorbitant amount of whimsy. It’s like Girls, but the main characters actually like each other.

I love friendship!

American Dad

It’s like Family Guy but funnier, which is pretty self-explanatory. My favorite character has to be the alien that’s consistently dressing as other people with wildly different lives.

I don’t know its name because I only watch it while I’m on the cusp of REM.

My favorite, and high key the only episode I remember, is “Hot Water” Season 7 Episode 1. The music goes hard and hey, I’m laughing.

Emergency intercom podcast

This isn’t a show, but you know what? This is my article, and I’m trying to get y’all to bed soon. This podcast is hosted by the hilarious Enya Umanzor and Drew Phillips, where they talk about everything and nothing at the same time. Their humor can be intense, with their sarcasm being laid on thick, so keep that in mind when listening. I think the reason why this show puts me to bed so quickly is that it sounds like you’re hanging out with friends who are chatting while you go mute on the couch.

mimimimimi

I hope your pillow is always cold, your water bottle stays filled, and you wake up with no morning breath.

I’m currently running on hopes and dreams, so get to bed my sleepy soldiers.
