Thank You, NC State

Alexa Davidoff Student Contributor, North Carolina State University
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCSU chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

I can’t believe the time has come to write this article, but here I am, saying my farewell to NC State. After 4 years at this school, loads of memories made, lots of important knowledge learned, and beloved friends made, it is almost time to walk across the stage and get my diploma. All the tears and stress over assignments and exams will be just a memory so soon. To all freshmen and incoming freshmen, ENJOY IT! These four years go by so fast, and next thing you know, you’ll be in my position. It’s funny to think back four years ago, how nervous 18-year-old me was to come to NC State. I was moving multiple states away from home and was terrified that I wouldn’t make any friends. Now, I never want to leave. It is hard to imagine that for the first time, I will not have another FDOC in August. With graduation under 2 weeks away, everything is starting to feel too real. It is a bit relieving that this will be my last finals week, though. In this article, I want to recognize everything that made my 4 years of undergrad at NC State so memorable.

1. Freshman year house shows

The house shows near campus made my freshman year so fun and memorable. Being with my friends and hearing some of my favorite songs by bands like the Arctic Monkeys, The Backseat Lovers, and Wallows was the highlight of my freshman year.

2. Dinner at coco bongo

Coco Bongo has been a staple dinner spot with my friends since our freshman year. Nothing hits harder than their chips and queso and, of course, their birria tacos.

3. Fitness classes at carmichael

One thing I love about Carmichael is the free fitness classes they offer for students. I used to love going to the cycling classes, but ever since they added mat pilates classes, I’ve been obsessed with going to them!

4. Her campus, of course

When I joined Her Campus in the middle of my sophomore year, I did not realize how much I would love this community. I’ve always loved writing, so it was the perfect club to join when I wanted to write about something other than for class. I also loved being a part of all the photoshoots we’ve done and all the other fun arts and crafts events we’ve had. Being on exec has also led me to make so many amazing friends!

5. chaarg

I joined CHAARG during my very first semester here at NC State and never thought I’d still be doing it up until my last semester. CHAARG is an all-women’s workout club where we go to different workout studios all around the Raleigh area. CHAARG gave me so many amazing friendships and has allowed me to try new types of workouts that I would have never tried. Through CHAARG, I’ve done cycling, kickboxing, pilates, hot yoga, goat yoga, aerial silks, pole dancing, acrobatics, HIIT, weightlifting, and barre classes.

6. Forensic science club

As someone who wants to work in the forensics field after graduation, being a part of the exec board for the forensic science club at State has helped me network in the field. I’ve gotten to meet so many people who work in crime scene investigation and other fields of forensics, and would not have had that opportunity otherwise.

7. sweet treat trips to howling cow

Howling Cow has always been the perfect sweet treat stop with my friends, especially when it’s hot out. I will miss the wolf tracks ice cream for sure!

I am going to miss so much about NC State, but I am so grateful for everything I’ve been able to accomplish during my time here. To all the underclassmen, enjoy every moment at NC State while you can! To my fellow graduates, congratulations, and I hope you all go on to do amazing things! I will definitely visit NC State as an alum!

Thank you, NC State, for an amazing 4 years!
