Hello, everyone! Are you one of the lucky college seniors that is graduating this spring semester? Well, first off, congratulations! I am also apart of that lucky population, which is super exciting! It is a common theme at many universities that they will allow for graduates to decorate their graduation caps. This is a very personal and creative part of the graduation process that you can allow yourself to be apart of!
At our college, many people partake in decorating their graduation caps. I think that it is a wonderful way to create a personal item that you will wear on graduation day that represents you. Often times, people make the graduation caps personal to their major, their hobbies, their interests, or simply random. I am choosing this year to decorate my cap both to an interest of mine, as well as my major.
Many individuals will use a variety of materials if they are interested in decorating their graduation cap. From my own experience, I am using hot glue, fake flowers, little fake gems, sticker lettering, and a iron-on sticker. This may sound like it is basic, but I am looking forward to the personalized product. It is important that you cater your graduation cap to yourself. You can make the decision of what to have on the graduation cap and how fancy that you want to make it.
My personal favorite part of working to create my ideal vision of my graduation cap is coming up with a “quote” or “saying” to place in the middle of it. A quote isn’t necessary, but it can add a personalized note to it! This has been one of my favorite parts to put my creativity to the test!
Being able to decorate your graduation cap is a very rewarding experience. It also really does let you realize and process the fact that you are graduating. If you get a chance to decorate your graduation cap, I recommend that you take advantage of it. You worked above and beyond to receive your degree, which will allow for the graduation cap decorating process to be even more rewarding!
