Why Every College Girl Is Romanticizing Boston Right Now

There is just something about Boston right now that feels like it is calling my name. It is like everyone I talk to wants to just pack up and move there. Like main character vibes, walking with an iced Dunkin coffee, sunglasses on and headphones in, pretending you’re in Netflix’s new cringe but must-watch coming-of-age movie kind of good.

Suddenly, every college girl is either there, going there or constantly talking about going there.

So, why is Boston having a moment?

First of all, the outfits. Boston has that vibe where you can wear the simplest thing: a tank top, jeans, a tote bag and somehow it looks intentional. Effortless. Peak Pinterest board energy.

It says, “You’re not trying, but you are serving“. Walking down Newbury Street feels like a casual runway, and no one will question it.

The iced coffee culture? Dangerous. You don’t need three coffees a day, but suddenly you really are running on Dunkin, like it is a part of your personality.

You’re not just getting coffee, you’re getting a coffee and then going on a walk like you have the most important day…you don’t.

However, the real reason everyone is obsessed? Boston makes you feel like you have your life together.

There is just something about the city that tricks you into thinking you’re productive. You wake up, go on a walk, maybe journal for five minutes and suddenly you’re like…wait, am I becoming my best self?

It is also the perfect mix of fun without being chaotic. You can go out, dress cute, take pictures and still wake up the next morning and walk to sit by the water like the night before did not affect you. It’s not “lose your mind every night” energy; it is “I’m having fun but still in control” energy.

Which, let’s be real, is exactly the vibe we are all trying to carry.

Everything feels aesthetic, even doing nothing feels like something. Sitting by the Charles River? Iconic.

Walking around aimlessly? A moment.

Getting ready with your friends before going out? Windows open with the Boston air blowing in…I literally could not think of anything better. It is like the city turns your normal life into content.

As if you needed another reason, but it actually feels realistic. Boston isn’t some untouchable dream city.

It is internships, summer sublets, staying with friends, making everything somehow work. It feels doable, which makes it even more appealing. Like, this could actually be your life for a summer.

Warning, though, you will be hit quickly with the thought, “I might move here after graduation.” You will be there for two days, and suddenly you’re looking at apartments you cannot afford and picturing your future self walking to work with a coffee in hand. It escalates quickly.

Let’s not ignore the group chat effect either. The second a person goes to Boston and posts it, everyone else is like…wait, do we need a girls’ trip?

It becomes a collective obsession. Suddenly, it’s not just a city, it’s a plan.

At the end of the day, Boston just fits the vibe right now. We are all trying to have the most fun, get our lives together, look cute doing and perfecting the Instagram feed, while trying to romanticize everything a little along the way.
