Ever since my 20th birthday passed, I knew exactly where I wanted to celebrate my big 21st. When I was younger, I always thought people in their 20s were old and that they had everything figured out. I imagined they were mature and intelligent, and that they had their life put together. When I turned 20, I realized that it’s normal not to know what your life goals are and that everyone is still learning their way around life. That is when I knew I wanted to spend my 21st somewhere that reminded me of my childhood and made me feel like a kid again. So, without a doubt, I knew Disney World was the best place to celebrate with my closest friends.Â
The Park’s Friendliness
One thing about Disney is that they’ll always make you feel special during your time there, but on your birthday, they make you feel like you’re the most popular girl in the park. From the minute I put on my birthday pin, almost every cast member wished me a happy birthday. Whether I was ordering food, waiting in line for a ride, or walking through the park, I was greeted with a cheerful “Happy birthday!” from the cast members. It was not just a plain old “happy birthday,” but they made each one feel personal and real, which made such a difference. I felt as if the entire park was celebrating me.Â
Disney’s Amazing Food
Disney’s food was yet another unforgettable part of my birthday experience. Whenever I am celebrating something, food is one of the main highlights of the day. Here is a list of my favorite places I tried:Â
- Cheeseburger Spring Rolls from Spring Roll Snack Cart in Magic Kingdom
- Cheshire Cat Tail and The White Rabbit from Cheshire Café in Magic Kingdom
- Beignet Caramélisé, Fourré Crème Vanille, Glacé au Caramel Fleur de Sel from Outdoor Kitchen–Fleur de Lys in Epcot
- California Roll from Kabuki Cafe in Epcot
- Empanada de Barbacoa from Choza de Margarita in Epcot
- Margherita Pizza from Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria in Epcot
- Gourmande from La CrĂŞperie de Paris in Epcot
The Epic Rides
There has always been something special about the rides at Disney that you will never experience at any amusement park. I have always felt excitement, even when waiting hours on end just to finally reach the cast member who leads me to my seat on the ride. What made this trip even more special was watching my friends who had never been to Disney get on each ride and see their reactions. Our first ride was Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and I have never felt so happy seeing how much they loved it. Disney has a way of turning ordinary memories into extraordinary ones. As soon as the ride launched and “I Ran” started playing, I could not help but watch my friends’ happiness. It was the first time they had experienced the magic, and it made me appreciate Disney even more. Each ride we went on during our time at Disney gave me the same feeling of pure joy and happiness.Â
The Photographs That Turned Into Long-Lasting Memories
My first tip, if you’re planning to go to Disney, is to purchase the Memory Maker. I promise you, you won’t regret it. On the first day, my friends and I didn’t have the photo pass, so we had to ask people to take photos of us, which did not come out great, and even the photos we took looked rushed because we kept wanting to move on to our next adventure. The Memory Maker let us stop wherever someone had a camera to take a picture of us, and even getting our pictures taken made everything feel so much more magical. We found ourselves smiling even more and truly absorbing the magic of each moment. Each picture taken captured the excitement that would last far beyond that day. It was a memory of the magic we felt, one that was not rushed by the stress of wanting to move forward.Â
The Firework Show at the Castle
I have watched the firework show at Magic Kingdom many times, but something was different about this trip. Maybe it was celebrating my 21st birthday or being surrounded by amazing friends, but the fireworks felt more magical than ever. As soon as “Happily Ever After” started playing, I suddenly felt my emotions overcome me. There is something about the music, lights, and Cinderella’s Castle that makes the firework show feel more than just a display. I could feel all of my birthday wishes suddenly coming true. On top of the scenery, watching my friends see Disney fireworks for the first time healed all my problems and gave me a sense of relief. Each firework reflected the excitement throughout the day and all the memories we created. It was not just about the fireworks; it was that Disney always had a way of making anything feel possible. Being there in that moment made me feel like the luckiest person in the world, celebrating my big day.Â
As I got on the plane to return home, I realized that this trip was the most magical and unforgettable experience I had ever had. Between the greetings from each cast member to the amazing food and rides, every moment spent on this trip felt like a dream come true. It was not just the parks themselves, but the memories I made with my friends and the excitement of sharing my big day with them. Disney has a way of making the impossible in life possible, and I will never take that for granted. By celebrating my 21st birthday in Disney, it was more than just a vacation; it was a chance to reconnect with my childhood and see how far I have come. All of the memories I made, I will never forget. My birthday at Disney will always have a special place in my heart.Â
