Shows for the Summer

The summer is closing in fast, and with The Summer I Turned Pretty unfortunately having finished up last summer, the options for what you can watch is just a little more limited. But despite TSITP not streaming a new season, a handful of popular and exciting shows are getting ready to, or are currently, streaming new seasons to be on the look out for. Take a peek at some of the options below!

Invincible

Any fans of the show know well about the long anticipated wait for season 4, which is streaming right now. While this season has been streaming for a couple weeks now, there are still two episodes yet to release, which means plenty of time to catch up before the finale. Invincible follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who inherits powers from his father who is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Invincible is nowhere near a completed show with several seasons still to follow, so go ahead and get caught up and ready to go!

The Boys

A show that is officially reaching its conclusion after many years of streaming, Season 5 of The Boys is finally streaming, with the first two episodes of the show having just released Wednesday, April 8th. With eight episodes slotted for the show, The Boys will run well into the summer months. For those who haven’t seen the show, imagine the Justice League if they were ill-intentioned with a group of vigilantes trying to stop and expose the group (known as the Seven) for who they are. It’s been a long time since season 4, though some of that time was quelled with the release of the spinoff show, Gen V, set in the same universe. The Boys is by no means a short show to get through, but after this season it will be concluded, so you can enjoy the show with no fear of a cliffhanger!

Euphoria

Euphoria Sundays are back! It’s been way too long since season 2, and the wait has definitely thrown many fans of the show for a bit of a loop, though now that the next season is almost here the anticipation is high. Beginning April 12th, Euphoria will be releasing one episode per week for eight weeks. The show is highly expected to conclude after this season, so a long journey following many beloved characters will reach its end. There is definitely still time to catch up on Euphoria, with only two prior seasons to watch. Even if you can’t get to it now, add it to the list for the summer!

Avatar the Last Airbender (Live-Action)

Don’t get this confused with the movie! The live-action TV series of Avatar will be releasing this upcoming June. Any of us who watched the animated series when we were younger are ecstatic, and so far the live-action show has done justice to the show, unlike some other adaptations. Season 2 of the live-action series will be an adaptation of Book 2, Avatar the Last Airbender, with a couple of changes here and there. While the animated show will always hold a beloved place in my heart, the live-action is still a good watch to fill some of that summer time.

Love Island

Finally, for those reality TV show lovers, Love Island is back for its eighth season. While I’ve never been a huge fan of reality TV, Love Island is a show that always brings intrigue and mystery, and it is honestly on the better side of the reality TV shows for me. For those who are frustrated by these 8 episode television seasons, Love Island will be releasing an episode every day of the week (on premiere week) and six days of the week after that.

Of course, the painful weekly waits for shows can be annoying, though if you have something to watch each day of the week, hopefully your summer can be filled with a variety of fun and unique TV!
