Finals season is fast approaching, and it is important to prepare your mind and body. In the experience of many college students, finals are highly stressful and leave little time in the day for students to study and take care of themselves. Here are a few things you can do now to prepare for finals. Â
- Stay in your routine. Whether that may be continuing to go to the gym, eat well, or see your friends on a Thursday night, keep doing it! Many feel the mayhem of finals and forget to continue to do these key things, but you should still be able to maintain your lifestyle and social goals during finals. This provides you with a structure that leaves you with designated times for preparing for finals. Â
- Get those menial tasks off your to-do list now. Still have that last reflection or discussion board to do? Do you need to do four loads of laundry? Haven’t mopped the floors in a few months? Do all that now so that nothing will distract you in peak finals time. This will let you focus on finals and life rather than chores or miscellaneous homework assignments.
- Self-care! When your brain is tired from cramming in a semester worth of material, there’s no use in forcing more information in. In these moments, the best thing you can do for yourself is practice self-care. That can be taking a nice everything shower, watching your favorite movie, or going on a trip to TJ Maxx. If it brings you some peace and you are finding ways to care for yourself, it is self-care. Â
I hope that these options will spark more ideas on how to brace yourself for finals season. Starting some of these steps now will make being in finals season easier. Good luck to all of you in the upcoming finals and congratulations seniors on graduating!
