A Survival Guide for Each Day of the College Week

College is less of a structured routine and more of a day-by-day emotional rollercoaster. Whether it’s that class you just can’t seem to understand or that one situationship that just won’t text back, there’s so much on the mind of a college girl. But not to worry, you are not alone! Read on to find out some best practices for not just getting through the week, but surviving each day one at a time!

Monday: The Delusional Reset

Monday is all about false hope. You wake up thinking this is the week you’ll finally get your life together. You go to class, maybe even take half-decent notes, and convince yourself that this is your academic comeback era.

How to survive:

  • Romanticize everything. Your walk to class? A literal movie scene. Your iced coffee? A new personality trait
  • Do one productive thing. Just one. That’s enough to justify your optimism.
  • Don’t overcommit: Monday motivation is a liar.

Reality Check: This energy will not last. Enjoy it while you can.

Tuesday: The Productivity Plateau

Tuesday is weirdly the most functional day of the week. You’re no longer delusional like Monday, but you’re not completely burnt out yet either. This is your peak “getting things done” window.

How to survive:

  • Schedule your harder classes or assignments here if you can
  • Actually go to office hours (yes, really)
  • Take advantage of all your remaining willpower.

Reality Check: Lock in. You’ve got this.

Wednesday: The Identity Crisis

By Wednesday, things naturally start to unravel. You’re tired, behind on something (even if you refuse to admit it), and questioning every life choice that brought you here. Outfits are rancid, meals are questionable, and your motivation is on vacation.

How to survive:

  • Lower your expectations. You’re not thriving — you’re surviving.
  • Take a nap. It can help more than you expect
  • Treat yourself (snack, coffee, something small)

Reality Check: Nobody else has it together either. They are just better at pretending.

Thursday: The Social Dilemma

Thursday is where the true chaos begins. You tell yourself you won’t go out, but suddenly it’s 9pm and there’s nothing you’ve ever wanted more. Even if you don’t go out, the energy of Thursday is distracting enough.

How to survive

  • Decide early: productive night or social night — trying to do both simultaneously will fail.
  • If you go out, accept that Friday will suffer. Sometimes sacrifices are worth it.
  • If you stay in, feel superior about it but don’t be fooled, FOMO is real.

Reality check: Your choices tonight directly impact your Friday. Choose wisely (you won’t).

Friday: The Consequences

Friday is unpredictable. You’re either thriving and done with classes or fighting for your life. There is no in-between.

How to survive

  • If you’re productive: finish everything early (future you will thank you later)
  • If you’re struggling: damage control mode, just muster your way through the day
  • Start romanticizing the weekend IMMEDIATELY.

Reality check: Nobody is doing their best work on Friday.

Saturday: Main Character Day

This is the day that makes your weekday struggles worth it. Whether you’re going out, going to a game, or just spending time with friends, this is the day when college feels exactly how you imagined it would.

How to survive

  • Take full advantage of this glorious opportunity and do something fun — even if it’s small.
  • Take pictures (you’ll want them during the week to remind yourself of a time when you were happy)
  • Be a little spontaneous (Saturday is sidequest central)

Reality Check: This is what the weekday struggle is for.

Sunday: The Existential Crisis

Sunday is humbling. You wake up late, remember nothing from the day before but everything you have to do, and suddenly feel the weight of the entire week ahead. It’s the perfect mix of stress, guilt, and denial.

How to survive:

  • Make a realistic to-do list.
  • Reset your space — it helps more than you think.
  • Accept that you won’t finish everything.

Reality check: Sunday is less about real productivity and more about preparing mentally.

At the End of the Day

College isn’t always about having everything together — it’s about learning how to survive the chaos in a way that works for you. Some days you will be productive, and others practically the opposite. That’s the college experience.
