Backround
Over the entirety of my life, my mom and I have simultaneously always loved one thing…fashion! We both adore trying new pieces and of course, going on shopping trips.
I remember one time a few years ago we did a girls trip to Vegas and were so excited to buy discounted Kate Space bags at the outlet mall. Later that day, we “took our bags out to dinner”, which is something that became a tradition in our household (especially with new shoes)!
Initial Idea
However, something that really drives our daily conversations about fashion is misconceptions surrounding generational style. My mom is a stylist for a brand called cabi and her older clients always say “I can’t wear that! I’m too old.” That then always made us ask the question, “Why not?!”
In the summer of 2025, we started talking about starting a podcast, because we love talking, but we also love and want to make women feel empowered, as well as comfortable about what they wear. While at first the thought of starting a podcast might have been a joke, we started to talk about it more seriously as our conversations progressed.
Planning
We then started to brainstorm and research further. Neither of us have done a podcast before, let alone a fashion podcast, but it transformed into a collaborative learning process. Understanding the tech and episode structure was our first step, then we made a list of all the fun topics we wanted to talk about. Despite our very busy lives, this became a priority as well as something fun and exciting! After much thought, we decided to name our Podcast Fashion XYZ (like generation X, Y, and Z…). Although, all generations are welcome to tune in.
Launch
Finally, in January of 2026, we launched our very first episode titled “Rules Are Dead: A Generational Guide to 2026 Fashion.” Without giving too much away (you’ll have to listen for yourself), we discuss the up and coming trends for 2026, with guiding visuals, while keeping all generations in mind.
the Future
We are currently working on our second episode for the month of February! We have decided to release a new episode once a month, but would be open to more frequent launches in the future.
Check us Out!
Our podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts and Youtube (which I think is the best option because fashion is extremely visual). We also have IG and FB and would love to hear your thoughts and feedback (no matter how harsh)! Just look up “Fashion XYZ Podcast.”
