The British breakout star Olivia Dean took home the Grammy for Best New Artist, after her successful year with the release of The Art of Loving, featuring “So Easy (To Fall In Love)”, “Man I Need”, and “Nice To Each Other”. Dean’s win places her among an iconic group of past recipients, including Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish. This win became a milestone in Dean’s career, solidifying her spot in the music industry.
The Unforgetable best new artist melody
The Best New Artist melody featured each nominee singing their hit song back-to-back. The melody showcased each nominee, including Olivia Dean, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, KATSEYE, Lola Young, The MarĂas, Addison Rae, and sombr. KATSEYE made their Grammy debut, performing “Gnarly” before performing their iconic dance break. Alex Warren proved why he’s one of the best new artists. After facing in ear audio malfunctions, Warren proceeded to keep singing, getting back on track, and showing why he deserves his spot among the other nominees. Olivia Dean’s performance of “Man I Need” showcased her star quality, owning the stage, and radiating happiness.
Kendrick Lamar Breaks Rap Record
Kendrick Lamar became the record holder for most awarded rapper with 27 wins, beating Jay-Z’s previous record of 25. Kendrick took home Record of the Year for his collaboration, “Luther” featuring SZA. Alongside this win, Kendrick took home the awards for all four main rap categories, ending the night taking home a total of five Grammys and becoming the most awarded artist of the night.
Billie Eilish Broke a longstanding tie
Billie Eilish added to her legacy, taking home her third Song of the Year Grammy for “Wildflower”. With this win, Eilish became the artist with the most Song of the Year wins, breaking the previous tie with Adele, Bruno Mars, and members of U2. Eilish broke this tie at just 24 years old.
Bad Bunny makes History for Album of the Year
During the night, Bad Bunny made history as the first Spanish-language artist to win Album of the Year, with his hit album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. He also took home the Grammys for Best Global Music Performance and Best Música Urbana Album.
A MAjor win for k-pop
Alongside Bad Bunny’s first-ever milestone, K-Pop Demon Hunters became the first K-Pop group to win a Grammy. The group took home the Best Written Song for Visual Media for their hit “Golden”.
Spielberg achieves EGOT Status
The night extended beyond music, with Stephen Spielberg officially reaching EGOT status, joining an elite group of individuals who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Spielberg won his first Grammy for Best Music Film for his work on documentary Music by John Williams. In the past, Spielberg has won three Oscars, 11 Emmys, and a Tony.
