Where To Buy The ‘Heated Rivalry’ Books, Since They’re Almost Sold Out

HBO Max’s Heated Rivalry has taken over the pop culture zeitgeist, and for good reason. If you’ve already watched (and re-watched) the first season and listened to the Quinn audio series Ember & Ice — starring Heated Rivalry leads Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie — you may be itching to read any of the six original Heated Rivalry novels by Rachel Reid that the hit series is based on. If you are, you might want to add them to your cart ASAP, since the books are flying off shelves and are nearly sold out at multiple retailers. Here’s where you can still find them.

Reid’s six novels — all a part of the Game Changer book series — each focus on a different queer professional hockey couple. The first novel, Game Changer, follows two characters familiar to Heated Rivalry watchers: Scott and Kip. Heated Rivalry, the second book in the series and the top choice for fans of the show, follows none other than Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Book six, The Long Game, is Reid’s continuation of their story, and will likely be the inspiration for Season 2 of the television adaptation. The other novels in order after Game Changer include Heated Rivalry, Tough Guy, Common Goal, Role Model, and The Long Game.

With the growing success of the television series — which started its weekly release with a two-episode premiere on Nov. 28, 2025 and concluded with Episode 6 on Dec. 26, 2025 — Reid’s different novels had been sold out from many common book retailers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

While they are now back in stock at some sites and stores, continued publicity for the television series could cause the shelves to be wiped once again. Below are some places fans may be able to secure a copy of Reid’s different novels to add to their 2026 TBR list.
