Every year, someone gives you a gift that’s…thoughtful, but ends up living in the back of your closet. If you’re shopping for a college girl (or making your own wish list), here are some things that won’t collect dust, the gifts that we’ll actually use on a regular basis.
No. One: A Really Good Water Bottle
Not the $12 one from Target that leaks. A good one. Think Stanley, Owala, Hydro Flask, my favorite being my HydroJug. It holds a ton of water, I take it to class with me every day, it stays cold forever and it can fit in my cup holders. When you’re running around campus all day, a reliable water bottle is priceless.
No. Two: Portable Phone Charger
This is one of those gifts that you don’t realize you need until you’re stranded on 3% battery in class. A slim one that fits in a purse is a clutch for long days on campus. My mom got me one last year, and I swear I haven’t left the house without it since. It’s easily one of the most useful gifts I’ve ever gotten.
No. Three: High Quality Tote or Backpack
Having a good everyday bag that you can use for class, work, or travelling home makes a huge difference. Look for something neutral that fits a laptop and holds all the random things you might need.
No. Four: A Nice Blanket or Throw
Dorms and apartments get cold, especially in the winter months. A cute throw blanket instantly makes a space feel warmer and more put-together. It’s one of those gifts that you can use every day.
No. Five: A Good-Quality Hoodie
A good hoodie is essential for a college girl. The Abercrombie one is elite, soft enough to sleep in, looks put together when you wear it to class and they hold up. I love mine so much that I’ve literally bought the same one for my boyfriend and brother.
No. Six: Cozy Matching Pajama Sets
There’s just something about matching sets that makes me feel instantly put together. The soft ones from Aerie are always a hit; they make late-night study sessions and lazy Sunday mornings feel more productive.
At the end of the day, the best gifts for college girls are the ones that make our lives easier, cozier and a little more fun. You don’t have to overthink it. If it’s practical and cute, it’s probably perfect. Whether you’re shopping for a friend, a sister, or building your own wish list, these are things that actually get used long after the holidays are over. Happy gifting!
