The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

With the semester coming to its official end next week, only one thing has kept me going: Christmas.

As exciting as ending another semester at St. Bonaventure University is, the thing that excites me the most isn’t having a long break from school, being home for a month with my family and friends, or even being closer to graduating this spring. I am most excited by the thought of Christmas being so close to us.

With everything going on each holiday season, like the decorations, the gift giving and receiving, and all of the yearly family traditions, one of the most important aspects of Christmas for me is the holiday movies.

Sitting on the couch with a blanket and the fire going, the Christmas tree right in front of me, surrounded by my family, while watching a good Christmas movie to get me in the holiday spirit is easily one of my favorite things about this time of year.

With being excited as I am for this part of the holiday season, I’ve gone over the Christmas movies that I watch each year and am sure to never skip this time of year:

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

One of the most nostalgic Christmas movies for me is the original animated Grinch movie. As much as I love the live-action version, the original will always hold a special place in my heart. My family and I always watched this movie on Christmas Eve every year when my sister and I were younger, right before going to bed that night. For this reason, this movie always makes me excited for Christmas, as it reminds me of the excitement of going to bed on Christmas Eve with the thought of waking up to Christmas in the morning.

Christmas with the Kranks

This will always be my all-time favorite Christmas movie. In my opinion, this movie is highly underrated and should be watched by everyone each holiday season. For me, this movie is the perfect makeup of a holiday movie. It has the perfect mix of all of the Christmas chaos that makes up all good holiday movies, but also has an emotional aspect that always makes me think of the more important parts of Christmas, like never taking anything for granted and being there for the people who surround you.

The Year Without a Santa Claus

This Christmas movie will always be a favorite for my mom and me, and I will never go through a holiday season without watching it. As a kid, this was always one of my favorites, Christmas season or not. Watching this will always get me in the Christmas spirit, no matter the time of year.
