As winter officially arrives, it’s easy to feel an impending doom as the days get shorter and the temperature gets colder. However, there are lots of beautiful parts of winter that I look forward to every year. Here is my list of things that can either only happen in the winter, or are just inherently better in the winter. Whenever winter starts to feel overly gloomy and heavy, I come back to this.
- Seeing the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller
Since I live in New Jersey, I make frequent trips to New York City. However, no matter how many times I have seen this christmas tree, it remains spectacular. Even though there is always a crowd, there is nothing more magical than seeing the tree twinkle with the city lights at night.
- Sleepovers with hometown friends
Since we are all in college now, I really only see my hometown friends at certain parts of the year. However, this has made my winters that much more sweet, because I get to be reunited with the people that I love. My friends and I make it a point to have as many sleepovers as possible over the winter.Â
- The first snowÂ
There is nothing better than opening your window in the morning and seeing snow on the ground for the first time that year. The light reflecting off the snow makes everything so bright, and it always looks perfect that first day.Â
- A movie nightÂ
Although movie nights can happen at any point in the year, they are just so much better on a cold winter night. They are way more cozy, and there are so many movies that match the vibe perfectly. I personally recommend that everyone watch the Holdovers at some point this month.
- The outfitsÂ
Winter outfits are so much more fun than summer outfits. The layering, the scarves or hats, the jackets, they are just way more creative. The winter is the time to show off your style, and there are so many outfit combinations you can try.Â
- Christmas musicÂ
This is an obvious one, but Christmas music is just perfect. Nothing is better than listening to Christmas music as you decorate the tree, or eat a Christmas eve family dinner.
