On the 26th of November, all fans of the Stranger Things series reunited for one great moment: watching the first part of the show’s final season, which has been everyone’s favorite since 2016.
With four episodes of about one hour each, Stranger Things 5: Part 1 presents the final battle of the group — Mike, Will, Eleven, Lucas, Dustin, and Max, who are anything but kids now — against their biggest enemy: Vecna.
For those who already binge-watched all episodes and want to relive the excitement, here are some of the best moments of this release.
The reveal of Will and Vecna’s bond
Right at the beginning of the first episode, we learn that when Will was captured and taken to the Upside Down in 1983, Vecna connected his roots to the boy, starting their bond and initiating the execution of his plan.
Henry’s appearances
In the last season, we got to meet Vecna’s human face and backstory. However, unlike before, in season five, Henry appears much more frequently. As the final and biggest villain, he comes to Hawkins to pursue and capture children as part of his grand plan.
Holly and Mr. Whatsit
As mentioned, Henry goes to Hawkins with a clear objective: capturing children and taking them to the Upside Down. Unfortunately, his first victim is Holly Wheeler.
She becomes the first child to form a connection with Vecna. Since the first episode, the youngest Wheeler begins seeing an “imaginary friend” she calls Mr. Whatsit — who turns out to be Henry.
Max’s return
After Holly is taken — already trapped in the prison-like world — she receives a letter signed by Henry. In it, he orders her to meet him in the forest.
When Holly arrives, Henry isn’t there… but someone else is: Max Mayfield.
The character, who had been in a coma since season four, returns to the show more than ready to help Mike’s sister.
The cave
With Max’s return, she brings her side of the story. When she explains everything to Holly, we learn that the place she found to stay hidden and safe from Vecna is the cave she now lives in — a place Henry seems desperate to avoid. Why this happens is something we are looking forward to discovering.
The reveal behind the door
While everyone is running from Demodogs, Eleven and Hopper try to uncover what is behind the door in Dr. Ray’s laboratory.
What Eleven expected to be Vecna turns out to be her “sister,” Eight — who also has powers.
The friendship and lessons between Robin and Will
At the end of the previous season, we saw hints of Will questioning his sexuality.
More than just a friendship of convenience, Will begins to see Robin differently after witnessing her kissing the girl she likes.
Their scenes together bring important conversations about discovering, accepting, and loving yourself just the way you are.
The discovery of Will’s superpowers
During an attack with Demogorgons chasing the boys and soldiers, Will — encouraged by Robin’s advice — begins to understand himself better and realize what he is capable of.
We’ve known for a long time that Will has a “special” connection to the Upside Down and to Vecna, but here we discover that, like Eleven, another member of the group has psychic abilities.
These were some of the best moments from this release that I’m sure everyone binge-watched. Hopefully, we’ll get a few more episodes to close the mysteries still left open — and keep the memories of this iconic show alive.
