Closet Wrapped: My Favorite Pieces From My Closet This Fall

‘Tis the end of the semester. Energy drink companies are at their peak, the library has all the study rooms booked for the next three weeks, and the cold and icy weather of Storrs and Mansfield is in full swing. All wonderful things, truly. To commemorate the end of the semester, I thought I would give everyone an inside scoop on the pieces I wore this fall and hope this serves as a guide for anyone who wants to get any of these items. I cannot begin to express how much I love everything on this list.

1. DON’T TAP THE GLASS

In July of this year, Tyler, the Creator dropped his tenth album, Don’t Tap the Glass, unexpectedly, leaving fans excited and shocked, since he had just released his ninth album, Chromakopia, less than a year before. As a fan of Tyler, I was thrilled to see he was selling merch for the album, including this all-black, simple hoodie with the “Don’t tap the glass” cover on the front. I hesitated getting this piece since there were so many in the GOLF store to choose from, but I am glad I did. It is black and goes with pretty much everything (even with some pieces I will show later), just enough color to match around, and, most importantly, it is warm! It is made of very thick, heavy-duty material, which also sold me since winter was coming (I pre-ordered this in July and did not get it until September). It has become a true staple for me this season, and I cannot wait to keep styling it.

2. Put your body on my jeans

As a college student, it is tough NOT just to throw on some sweatpants and go about your day (don’t worry, I, too, am guilty). This semester, I wanted to step up my game and dress up for my longer school days. Hollister is my go-to store for all things jeans. As someone who is 5’2″, it’s hard to find jeans that fit my size and height, but with Hollister’s ability to choose length AND size, buying jeans has been easier than ever. Earlier this school year, I ordered these two baggy jeans at the beginning of the semester, and they have been life-changing. I feel so confident and stylish in them. I pair the dark blue ones with my Tyler, the Creator hoodie a lot. I have other pairs of Hollister jeans, but these have for sure made their mark this semester.

3. Go Huskies!

I have to always show my University of Connecticut pride, of course. I love wearing my UConn merch outside of campus and having people ask me about UConn and talk about it. Not only are they cute and help show my husky pride, but they’re also warm and comfortable, and (much like everything else I wear) simple so that they can be paired with a lot! If I want to dress down, I can pair them with my favorite sweats and UGG boots, but if I want to dress up, I can throw on my favorite light-wash, baggy Hollister jeans and black Adidas Sambas. Which leads me right on to the following item(s)….

4. These boots are made for walking

Storrs is not really known for being a very flat, steady campus to walk around on. That’s why finding the perfect shoes for campus is very important. This semester, I saw myself reach for my black-and-white-stripe adidas Sambas and chestnut classic mini UGG boots. I got my Sambas about a year ago, but this semester I brought them out and wore them. Just like everything in my wardrobe, they are black, simple, and can be dressed up or down. They are also perfect and comfortable for the hills of Storrs, Connecticut. My UGGs are more for warmth and comfort. Don’t get me wrong, they are the cutest booties ever. But I really needed something that would withstand the wind tunnel that is UConn, and could guarantee me walking on a cloud for all the walking around campus I do. As no surprise to anyone, I also love them for their plain, simple color. I often pair them with my “ DON’T TAP THE GLASS” hoodie and my dark blue jeans!

5. bonus

Though I am not really heavy on jewelry or accessories, there are only a handful I love wearing. This semester, I’ve been wearing a jade ring, an initial “C” necklace, a boo basket my roommate Alesha made for me, and a Winnie the Pooh watch I thrifted last summer. Though it’s an assortment of random pieces, I love them for that simple reason.

There are many items in my closet that I did not list, not because I love them any less, but because this list would simply be too long. I really enjoyed everything I wore this semester and cannot wait to add more special pieces to my collection for the spring.
