Winter is here and the winds in State College are only getting harsher. It is no secret that the darker days are upon us. Luckily, we have winter fashion to lighten things up. Here are some staples that will keep you feeling warm but looking your best.

DARK WASH DENIM

Winter is the season for dark shades and denim is no exception. A pair of dark wash jeans of the style of your liking will pair well with a variety of tops including sweaters, cardigans and basic long sleeves.

PEACOAT

A peacoat can be a wonderful way to transition into winter with it’s warm lining and stylish appearance. It is a great way to dress up an outfit and can pair well with jeans if you’re going for a more casual look or a mini skirt if you’re feeling fancy. There’s also an added bonus that it brings you back to the 2000s.

BIG BLACK PUFFER

A puffer is a must-have for winter, and you don’t even have to be from New York to own one. The North Face puffer may be the most popular, but there are tons of places that sell them for more affordable prices such as H&M and Cotton On. It is important that this winter staple be accessible to everyone.

WINTER BOOTS

I know that winter boots might not be an ideal part of your everyday look, but this is one of those cases where beauty is not pain. Keeping your feet covered and warm should be a priority and lucky for you, UGG and Columbia have a variety of styles. For more affordable options, Target and Amazon also have solid options.

FLEECE LINED TIGHTS

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that dresses and skirts are totally out. For occasions that you want to feel a bit dressier, fleece lined tights are a must. They will keep you protected from the cold (as much as they can) while still looking like regular tights. This way you can rock your dresses no matter the weather.

BASIC WHITE TEE

A basic white tee is essential for winter as it is perfect for layering. Stepping out and being freezing cold followed by stepping into a humid building and immediately sweating is easily one of the worst parts of winter. A basic white tee keeps you from being cold and if you get hot, you have a backup outfit. An added bonus is that it makes your outfit cuter.

LEATHER JACKET

Fake or real, a leather jacket is a must for making an outfit come together. Especially for nights out, a leather jacket will add a flare to your outfit, while preventing you from getting frostbite. It can also be perfect for a more casual look since you can never go wrong with a denim and leather fit.

As bleak as winter can get, the season makes for great holidays and even greater fashion. You can always look and feel your best regardless of the weather.
