On November 6, 2025, NBC aired Wicked: One Wonderful Night, with the special arriving on Peacock the following day. The hour and 23 minute long concert features the stars of the Wicked movie (Part 1 came out last November and Part 2 has hit the theaters November this year), including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, and more! From interviews to iconic performances, the night was a celebration for all Wicked fans.
Although every moment was showstopping, here are my top five favorites.Â
1. Bowen Yang and Ethan Slater’s “Dancing Through Life”
In the film, Fiyero is played by the actor Jonathan Bailey. However, Bailey was unable to attend and perform the night the concert was filmed, therefore, they had Yang (who plays Pfannee) and Slater (who plays Boq) fight over who would become Fiyero’s understudy. Their task included performing various tricks alongside his main song “Dancing Through Life.” It was exciting to see these two step into a role so different from their own, such as the moment Ethan Slater dropped into the splits! This also provided a new take on the fan-favorite song. The two were also joined by their co-star Marissa Bode, who plays Nessarose Thropp.Â
2. Ariana Grande’s “Popular” featuring audience member, Remington
When it was time for Ariana Grande to perform one of Glinda’s main songs “Popular,” she had a special guest join her onstage! Remington, a 4 year old audience member and major Wicked fan, was invited up to the stage to become Ariana’s Elpahaba for the song. The performance was filled with adorable moments, such as Remington finishing Grande’s sentences and priceless facial expressions. It was a heartwarming moment to get to see a young fan take the stage in a moment they will remember forever.Â
3. “For Good” Featuring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Idina Menzel, and Kristen Chenoweth
In the tear jerker of the night, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were joined by the original Glinda and Elphaba on Broadway: stars Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. The song “For Good” was already heartfelt and celebrates the power of friendship. They changed some lyrics of the song so that it portrayed a message of gratitude and had a symbolic gesture of passing the torch. It beautifully paid homage to the original performers while simultaneously celebrating the new stars.Â
4. Bowen Yang is “soooo Elphaba’s Broom”
In a break from the showstopping performances, a few of the cast members, including Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, and Marissa Bode, all took the “Which Wicked Character Are You?” quiz. They all ended up matching with the exact character that they play in the film. However, when Bowen Yang enters the room and takes the quiz, it says that he is most like “Elphaba’s Broom”. The rest of the group eagerly agrees with this, Michelle Yeoh saying he is “soooo Elphaba’s Broom” while Yang remains confused that it chose an object for him rather than a character. This was a light, comical moment showing the cast’s special bond and friendship dynamic.
5. “What Is This Feeling” Superbowl Show Style
Fans from all over the world have loved Wicked and have even created their own adaptations of its classic songs. Well, the cast showed that they knew this! Fans had been jokingly saying that the SuperBowl Halftime show should feature “What Is This Feeling” from Wicked, performed with dramatic beats and pauses. The cast made that happen when Cynthia Erivo and Ariana performed the song in the suggested style, surrounded by their iconic backup dancers.Â
Wicked: One Wonderful Night was everything fans could hope for and more. From guest stars and audience interaction to new takes on classic numbers, it was a beautiful night celebrating the cast and fans of Wicked and it was a great way to get excited for the Part 2 of the movie which comes out November 21 in theaters!Â
